Would you guys take a coupe or convertible?
In this one instance, I prefer the styling of the convertible over the coupe.

I was in love with the F-Type when it was still the CX-16. Coupe for me.

re: F-Type convertible, I'm with charliemike, convertibles don't usually do too much for me (this has been changing in the past years, with the 458, R8, to name a couple) - it's a tough formula to do right and I do like the convertible better than the coupe.

I'm almost dead-set on the Fiesta ST. But I want to see how the Mazdaspeed 3 will be, if it comes out. Really interested in seeing a turbocharged Skyactiv powerplant.
turbo BRZ would be nice too. But probably a little too pricey.

Most definitely. I want it to be a car I can keep for a while, so having a hatchback with a backseat is nice.
I just don't trust the transmission in the TL, knock on wood. It's a solid car still. But I want something new. And my commute isn't so bad anymore that I want a daily that's stick.

For some reason, I don't really want more power on my car for now. Probably will want more once I learn how to drive the car to the max level at the track with the current level of power. All I want is a new set of wheels/tires and legit set of coilovers.
But yeah, if you are going for hatchback utility, I would recommend ST/MS3/WRX.
Fun shopping time!

$25k
I really want to like the WRX but I don't like the styling. At least the WRX has the new boxer engine and not the proven but decrepit EJ. Indeed, this price range is sweet.
what CM said. I would actually really be interested in a Mazdaspeed 2 but I highly doubt that will happen. A Focus ST the way I'd like it would be around $28k. I actually prefer the Fiesta.

I'm sure you can spice up or tone down the look of new WRX. The aftermarket support will be HUMONGOUS as you know.
If I was in the market for hatchback with a budget around $25k, I will get the new WRX in a heartbeat. AWD>FWD.

That's subjective and can be fixed. You can't mod a FWD to become an AWD. ![Tomato](https://acurazine.com/forums/images/smilies/tomato.gif)
No offense on ST owners lol Just saying I would choose an AWD turbo hatch over a FWD turbo hatch if I was in the market. This is based on my personal experience of driving around a modified FWD turbo hatch.

WRX gets terrible gas mileage. And subjectively, I think it's ugly as well. Plus it's not on sale at the moment. I'd venture to guess it'll MSRP at $26-27k.
Fiesta ST will be $24k the way I want it, starting at $22k. I have a good connection with a sales manager at Ford too, so it'll be painless.
Maybe it's just maturity, but outright performance isn't what I care all about anymore. A Miata is in the consideration too, but probably more as a toy. Hatchbacks are easy as hell to park. And as a daily, the fuel economy is nice. The Fiesta has already won several car of the year awards and has heaps of praise about its fun to drive factor... I'm not that worried about its ability to set lap times.

I've been in and around all drivetrain layouts, and mid-engined, RWD is still my favorite. The AWD in a daily is frankly, an unnecessary feature for me. I live in California, and AWD is great for the rain, makes it more fun and is a safety blanket. But the Lancer and Impreza fun variants are terrible on gas.
If I were to build a track vehicle I'd wait for the 2016/17 STI where they hopefully make a turbo FA25 or something. They did improve the WRX though, 6MT and ~270 hp, ~260 lb/ft.

The problem is that there's no RWD hatchback under $30k!
I would never go back to FWD. The driving experience is just not as rewarding as RWD and AWD cars are. That's just me though.
Have fun with shopping man! Keep us posted!
