Any car can be imported if it's 25 years or older.

Any of you guys a member at 8th Civic Si forum?

I'm trying to post my Advan wheels there, but I guess I have to be a member for over a month to do it.

Anyone?

IFAIK, it's only based on the manufacture date.

Haha, there's no way I'd own a car like that living where I do. It'd be worth 4-5x my house

On the 25 years or older, I believe this year marks the first for the R32 Skylines to start being brought over as well. The M-B Evo II posted above should be available next year since they began selling them in late 1990.

With only 502 made of each Evo I & Evo II, they'll be quite pricey. Who knows how many are still on the road. I'd love to have either.

From here: http://www.motorauthority.com/news/1...ion-at-auction

A McLaren F1 race car once piloted by ex-Formula One driver J.J. Lehto was sold at auction over the weekend for a staggering $5,280,000. The price paid is certainly an incredible sum, but you have to consider that only around 100 F1s were ever built, including racing versions like the one featured here.
This particular example is a 1997 McLaren F1 GTR Longtail, bearing chassis number 021R. The car was campaigned by the Works BMW Motorsport Team and is the automaker’s most successful race car in private hands.

It was recently restored to original factory condition and decked out in the iconic FINA livery that it wore during much of its racing career. That career included four podium finishes in five FIA GT Championship races.

Under the hood is a 6.0-liter V-12 tuned to deliver 604 horsepower and 6,500 rpm. The engine is paired with a six-speed sequential gearbox from Xtrac and spins the rear wheels only. The suspension consists of double wishbones and light alloy dampers, and the brakes are carbon ceramic discs from Brembo.

Estimates for the car ranged from $5 million up to $7 million. Incredibly, the McLaren wasn’t the top seller at the auction, which was organized by Gooding & Company and took place in Scottsdale, Arizona. A 1958 Ferrari 250 GT LWB California Spider went for $8,250,000 and a 1958 Ferrari 250 GT Series 1 Cabriolet went for $6,160,000.

Yep. Tou are correct. Once a car is 25 years old, the Nhtsa requirements are dropped. So My friend (car dealer in Japan) told me a lot of guys are asking for R32's, and they run about $10-18K at auction (quite used, not excellent condition), and the US sell price is abot $30k. Nice profit if you can swing it.

The more I look at the Mk7, the less I like it. Especially the Golf R.

Volkswagen couldn't have made the car any more bland than if they had designed it out of boiled cauliflower.

True. Just wish it was little more aggressive for their top-of-the-line hot hatch.

Doesn't have to be crazy like the Citroen Megane but I'd really have liked it to be a little closer to this on the continuum:

I realize VW would not make something that looks like that (or would save it for the Scirocco R) but if the Golf R is at one end and this is at the other, I wish VW had split the difference.

BTW, I love that VXR. I wish I could buy one.

I get what you mean, CM...given the mark-up in price, you'd prefer some more obvious visual cues to the R.

Still, if you think about it, okay...horrid example, can you tell the differences between all the Zondas and their various "editions"?

Haha, no. But I get what you're saying. And most people could not tell a S320 from a S63 ... Despite about many thousands of dollars in price differential.
