Garage of the Day: Through-Floor Living Room from Garage

From Motor Authority...

So you're short on space, but long on exotic cars, and you want a way to display a specimen in your living room? No worries, Takyua Tsuchida has you covered.

This photo of a through-floor garage/lift/display is from a house designed by Tsuchida for a client in Tokyo. The request from the client? A nine-car garage, with the ability to view one of the cars in the living room, plus a tall tree--all in 2,000 square feet.

A tall order for any architect, to be sure, but Tsuchida delivered with style. Dubbed "KRE," the house is just one of the many impressive designs envisioned and made real by Tsuchida. You can find more of Tsuchida's work at his site at the link below, but you'll need your own Lamborghini and a lot of scratch if you want to turn this fantasy garage into your personal reality.

He needs to redo the interior of the house thought. Way too sterile to be comfortable.

Think so? I've always liked the sterile and cold look in a room.

Too much white. Good if you are in an operating room, not great to come home to everyday. I'm willing to guess the rest of the house looks as bland too, aside from the garage.

I love how the Countach looks without that dreadful rear wing.

Nice!

I would paint that apartment instantly. Get some nicer warm colors, possibly even earth colors.

I'm sure its all white on purpose. Definitely a post-modern motif...

I thought Cameron's house was "like a museum: cold, dark, and you can't touch anything."

Edit: found the quote "The place is like a museum. It's very beautiful and very cold, and you're not allowed to touch anything."

The idea kicks ass, though not my taste in interior design.

when I read "tree" i envisioned something a little bigger, like he had his own little Elvish tree in the living room with spiral staircase around it.

all this tree and car in the living room talk reminds me of the scene in "Drop Dead Fred"

where the mercede's is in the living room and the tree goes up through the sprial staircase! hah... freaky.

I think so too Terry, but two things:

1. The wife would tell me, "I'm not cleaning this"

2. 3 kids, 14 and under.

Number two ends the conversation. No rooms like that.
