Getting it Done

Tape her off, I would consider doing this to my car if I had a newer car or something with nice paint. My parents took their car to NYC when they came back it was a pain in the asssssssssss to wash off the front+ they had like 6 new paint chips from rocks. For me it would be rock chips verses bugs, bugs you can always wash off right away and keep it clean, but when you get a rock chip...eff your life.

Needs more Lemon Pledge
Spray the front of your car with PAM before leaving. Nothing will be able to stick to it. I like the REAL BUTTER flavor but others may prefer the Olive Oil flavor.

Clear bra. I mean, really, if you are that worried about protecting your paint, that is the ultimate solution, and it protects you from smaller bugs.
Otherwise, I would use nothing, and when you arrive at your destination, use bug/tar spray immediately and wash your car. That's what I do with our Pilot. My other cars have clear bra on them, so I worry less.

Worrying this much about your front end of the car and using alternative solutions like painters tape will just end up costing you more in the long run. Just get a clear bra and get it over with

i cant believe some of you guys do this. Especially for Bugs. Buy a Bra if you are that concerned about stuff on trips. Put it on to drive and take it off when there. A good bra wont scratch or harm the paint at all.
And get some good bug and tar remover. It will remove the bugs no problem. That or stop by a gas station and get a little Diesel fuel, it will wipe them right off. Just wash and wax the bumper when done.

When I had my TL this is what I did. The Acura bra worked great and the paint was fine. When I would get to my destination I could just pop it off, then just wash off whatever hit the car and missed the bra. Never had an issue.
Definitely don't use saran wrap. That stuff is only good as a dental dam in emergency situations. That and wrapping food. Not quite strong enough for good protection on a road trip...

CCC - That first pic is a terrible job haha I don't get this at all...
I saw a GTR taped the other day and was like ok but if I saw someone with their skirts and wheels done, especially on a non exotic, I would point and laugh

As for the trailer and this may be a dumb question but how the hell do you get out of a car in a trailer? Hop out the window, squeeze out the door?

Yup climb out the window. Can't open the door actually because the car sits so low it hits the trailer wheel tub.

it's a car-drive it
my 06 tsx has numerous rock chips. If I could do it all over I would have had a clear bra installed when I first owned it. I decided my next car will have it. The painter's tape sounds like a great idea if you do not travel alot.

Anyway, sorry I missed you. I caught up with Eric later on in the afternoon, but you had already left. Hope you had fun in the QC!

Hey... I saw your car on Saturday here at the Charlotte C&C, however, didn't see you. I went by twice and everytime I asked someone if that was their car they said no!

Yeah sorry I was there with my dad walking around checking out all the cars so I wasn't around my car much really at all till he left around 10 which is around when I met up with Eric. I should be at the next one so maybe I will see you there unless there are any other meets in the local area. I haven't been able to find a real active local Charlotte, NC car forum.

Yikes, those tape jobs look tedious- even with 3" painter's tape. I would use http://www.buyroadwrap.com/ instead for a trip or just a bra. Both options wouldn't leave a residue and look way better while you're driving. I'll buy some roadwrap next time I do a long road trip. You can get it 18" x 100' for $29.99 or 6" x 100' for $12.99.

Just bought 3 rolls of the 6" stuff in time for our family vacation in a couple weeks- this should last me a long time. I read all the info and the roadwrap should perform well- impervious to rain, car washes, UV etc. They recommend limiting the wrap to 7 days but you can keep it on a little longer but may leave a little residue that can be wiped off with rubbing alcohol.
Back to the original topic- here's what they say on Saran Wrap:
Is Road Wrap the same thing as Saran Wrap?
Absolutely not. Road Wrap is a 2.5 mil polyethylene film with a water based acrylic adhesive that has UV protection. No one should ever use Saran Wrap on their vehicle in extreme driving elements with different weather conditions.

^ Yea I used the road wrap that was recommended on page one and they provide awesome protection. I did have problems with them peeling off on the road. I will try to correct this problem when I drive back home so I can give precise recommendations on using these.
