New Meaning to the term 'Low Miles'

I work out at the Port of Portland moving new cars around and Honda just threw some more cars our way today. This one was from the previous shipment but was straggling behind. Now normally I don't check the odometers due to the 'Low Fuel' message taking up the MID but for some reason, I felt compelled to check this car. Boy am I glad I did!!

Oh yeah...it's a silver on black TSX and it's headed for the east coast. Don't get too excited because by the time it gets on the train, it will have clicked over to 1 mile.

Wow, woulda thought it would have 2-3 miles on it. I thought most cars at the factory they put on a dyno rollers for a couple miles or a short test drive, maybe they stopped that?

Don't count on that one mile thing Portland. I can personally say I've witnessed at least 3 TSX odometers that read 000000 when they were received in MA. You should check those TSX odometers more often, they never seem to be more than 4 when they get to us on the east coast.

If the Acura dealer you buy from does what they are supposed to do, the car should have at least 10 miles on it when you take delivery.

As a side note, your manufacturers warranty starts from the mileage that is on the federal odometer statement you sign when you buy the car.

At BMW they put it on a dyno and from what i hear the odo starts once they program it after that.

Heres my car when i picked it up in Munich.

My '05 TL had two miles on it before I test drove it and bought it. I feel like I missed something important.

Every G is road tested on a track by a Nissan engineer in Japan for at least 2 miles. My car came with a little card that tells who the engineer was and how many miles he drove....

Interesting- every new car I've ever bought had somewhere between 8 and 20 miles on it, whether still wrapped up and straight off the truck or after my test drive.
I think I test drove a car that started with 4 miles on it, but can't remember what it was.

I think it varies between automakers. Obviously, if you're importing cars from overseas, you've got a fair chunk of real estate to drive across when loading/unloading cars. In other cases, cars go off the line, directly into the back of a truck, directly onto the dealer lot.

Something just seems like it would feel good to hop in your car for the first time and see that.

I've only witnessed this with the TSX. Every TL/RL/MDX/RDX has had more than 5 when they arrive.

That's funny as both my G's didn't have this and didn't have enough miles to show that.

my CL had 147 miles on it when I signed the papers. It came from out of state and I know the dealer had someone drive it instead of trailering it like I requested

unfortuantly not

When I bought the CL they were already listed as discontinued. I spent weeks just finding the combo I wanted, so I didn't have much of a choice.

Now, that is awesome.

I've always been jealous of the person/people that would put miles on my new cars before me.

I wonder if any automaker has an option for the owner to pick up the car directly from the factory? I think you can have that with the Corvette, but it's extra. Pretty cool, though.

BMW, Benz, and I believe Porshe all have euro-delivery options. You still have to put your car on a boat or plane afterwords though.

Nice. With a PC and some software you can enjoy that mileage again after a few years.
