Fml!

I attend the Illinois Institute of Technology on 33rd street, and live 26 miles North of there. On fridays, I get out of school at 5:50pm. The entrance to the highway is right by the school, but I need to cut across 3 lanes to get into the lanes for the I90/94. The lanes were Not moving at all b/c of rush hour traffic. I decide to cut through Chinatown to get on a much more practical entrance straight onto the 90/94. On the way, I hit a gigantic pothole at 30m.p.h. (It wasn't a huge hole in the street that one could see easily, but rather a lip of concrete sticking up ~3inches after the street smoothly dropped.)

I am now sitting on 18th street 1 hour later with a flat tire! waiting for my extra rim and the hand tools from home since I dont have any!

FML!!!!!! I'm so pissed.

please flame away so i fully learn my lesson once and for all. thats why i posted this. a ratchet is going into my trunk as soon as I get home!

(yeah picked up someone's wireless signal on my laptop im always on when im signed in here)

No spare & jack?

My experience when traffic isn't moving and you need to exit is not to feel like you have to rush to make the exit. Who cares if you have to sit with your turn signal on just so someone'll let you in. You can't be too passive and non-decisive though, I hate that.

Please don't tell me you took out the spare and jack to put in a system...

Gotta have a spare...heck, I'd love to have a full sized spare again...

^ i don't have a spare/jack/any tools because of my system but my city is pretty small, so would usually only take half an hour or so from my house to anywhere in the city

but i don't think that's the OP's problem, he just didn't have any tools, probably had the spare and the jack in the trunk tho

wait did you go to IIT?? no shit. Since i live north tho, i always head to the entrance on Lasalle north of 31st.

anyways, definitely had my chocolate donut spare in the trunk with the jack, just no tools going back to when I put on these rims, tightening them by hand after the air gun...plus my dad wasn't doing anything and wanted to help and so he brought my extra rim over along with his ratchet and garage jack...we switched it out in no time.

also, the flat-tired rim is indeed bent, although not very severe of a bend...I'll be switching back to the stock rims tomorrow, and maybe try to sell these locally? they have 85%+ tread left on these top-of-the-line
all-season Michelins...ill examine everything tomorrow.

I did though I graduated before you were born. I took the Ryan north to I-55 or the Ike and out of the city.

I used 35th street when the Ryan was really jammed up. The much longer ramp made for a less stressful merge than the one off of 31st.

i've been on the 35th street ramp a couple times and it is a lot longer...im trying that next time!! thanks.

and the campus probably has changed alot since you've been there last. the newer dorms designed by Helmut Jahn and the newer student center by Rem Koolhaas add a nice touch to the neighborhood.

Im studying architecture and I never have a problem with spending hours drafting in Crown Hall, a great building im sure you remember. And they're still anal about it since its a National Landmark...we get yelled at for even touching the blinds on sunny days
