HELP! Got rear-ended

FML! Got rear-ended today by a dang woman..She was going about 5-7 mph. ..anyways the damage was not that bad, 2 screw indentations. What I wanna know is, what are the chances of any interior damages to the absorption foam, clips, nails, etc. I did not want to get the police or the insurance due to how minor the damage looked. She gave me 60 dollars on the spot and i'm waiting on another 90-150 dollars in accordance to estimates via different body-shops. Thanks guys

I would have filed something... with HER insurance, not yours. It's her fault, she pays here to fix your slab.

Dude relax, the damage is merely cosmetic. If all you got was two scew holes on the exterior of the bumper, there is no serious damage underneath. If there was, the exterior of the bumber would be in much worse shape to reflect the level of damage. The bumpers are rated for 5 mph impacts without severe damage.

yea i could've filed a claim with her insurance but i really did not want to look like an ass. I didn't want her premium going up due to how minor the damage looked. I was thinking about upgrading the back bumper to the aerobumper anyways. Just gives me another excuse to do it lol. Thanks Craig, i'm just a bit paranoid because I heard of people getting involved in minor rear-endings and they end up with "internal damage"

If you can be happy living with a hole in your bumper, then more power to you.

When my rear bumper got scratched, I was infuriated, mostly because the lady did not own up to it. Luckily, someone saw it and there was no way for her to refute it. She basically paid for my Aero bumper upgrade.

Despite my car being a daily driver, I still baby it and (knock on wood) I have zero scratches on my bumpers. Obviously if someone indented their license plate screws in my bumper on the street there's no way I'd be able to do anything about it, but if there was a way (i.e. the irresponsible lady mentioned above), I'd follow through all the way.

it's minor BS like this that unfortunately, is usually not worth the hassle of getting fixed, going through insurance, etc. That being said, it's all about your comfort level and whether or not you can live with the minor flaw.

I am so anal with my car. This really does bother me but I can live with it. I'll save up for the aero kit and call it a day. I guess this is one of the cons living in NYC SMDH. BTW it would be hard to believe any internal components are damaged right? Thanks guys

Definitely not impossible, but highly unlikely. The place where you got hit has either styrofoam mounted to steel/metal, or nothing (just the fender itself).

Without seeing it in person, nobody can give you a true picture, but I suspect you're talking very minor, to no "true damage", aside from aesthetics/cosmetics.

you can probably touch that up your self, first touch up paint then clear then a kit like quixx or turtle wax.

Call your local dealerships and ask them if they use a mobile bumper repair service. Those guys can usually fix these types of issues for a few hundred bucks (or less).

I have same screw dent exactly like yours. I got rear end by the woman who is talking on the phone while driving. I filed her ins right the way. I got $ 275 check from her ins. (Geico). I just bought touch up paint to patch it.

Get rid of scratches?

Hi guys,

Sorry to hijack this thread, but I didn't want to clutter up the forum with a generic topic. I also got a scratch on my car door and was wondering what do people recommend to fix? The scratch isn't too deep, just about 2 inches long.

I don't put much faith in the "magic pen" (but hey, I may be wrong), but what some of the other products out there like Quixx (Amazon)?

Thanks!

I use quixx and it does a great job of reducing or even removing scratches. I don't use the sandpaper that comes with it. You can get it at Walmart if you have one in your area.

I got rear ended the same way. It was a red light and she said she put her car in Park to grab something from the rear seat except she put it in Neutral instead and rear ended me. She's freaking lucky she wasn't the first car and that I was otherwise she would have went ahead into a very busy two way street and god knows what would have happened to her. This was my old car and my bumper was messed up already. She gave me $40 on the spot and that was that. Did not bother with insurance.
