Bubble!
FML!
Hit this damn pothole going about 70-75 mph on the way home tonight. Got home and inspected the tire/wheel. Wheel does not look bent but the tire's sidewall has a good size bubble in it.
Started calling around and spoke to Tire Kingdom and Firestone- neither of them have a 235-35-19 in stock. Tire Kingdom says they can get me a Sumitomo HTR Z III for about 170 balanced/installed. Thankfully, they are only about 2.5 miles away from the house. I dont want to risk driving further/ higher speeds and risk a blowout. I read a few threads in this section on this tire and dont see anything bad about them.
Guess I'll be taking my beater to work tomorrow (98 Ford Ranger)

those are good tires but they get bubbles easy .....and i had a 45 height when i had them on my 06 TL ...other than that it's a overall good tire ............i would say get another one as planned ....the if it happens again....start shopping for some different tires...........

The tires that are on there now are not Sumitomo. They are BF Goodrich. I'm just too cheap at the current moment to buy a matching tire (I'm spending about 1k this weekend-
we are throwing a bday party for my 1 yr old- she won't remember shit but.......)
Thanks for the heads up. I didn't know they are prone to bubbles. Maybe I should rethink my decision....

that's why i am throwin that out there ......i had them as i said with a 45 height and had to really pay attention to the roads and my speed after a while becasue i would park and just look at my tire and it would have a bubble and ........i wouldnt even remember hitting anything that ...hard ............kuhmo is another cheaper brand which is decent ........and not sure about prices out where you are but .......i just replaced a toyo 245/35/20 tire up here in N.Y and only payed 150 plus instalation.........just putting that out there ........

Make certain you watch when they balance the tire as any distortion can be recognized when spinning, but may be missed when just eyeballing. If you want, jack up the car and lay something e.g. a block of wood on the ground and place a pencil on the object with the eraser against the edge of the wheel, then turn the wheel to see if any bend or movement of the wheel against or away from the eraser.
Being aftermarket wheels they may be stronger than the OE that seem to bend easily.
Good luck.

I've heard such bad things about the Exclaims. It was the one I was going to buy for my summers but 4 separate people, of various driving styles and ages, have told me not to buy it. That has NEVER happened to me, with any purchase...

I haven't run 'em myself. Based mostly on recollection of posts here and mmade22's use.
Here's the Tire Rack survey page. Not bad. Over 18mm miles and rated 6th in category (1 - 5 are all newer designs). Much better that the OP's suggested Sumitomo HTR Z. FWIW.

I have the General Arctic's for my winter tire, and they're probably one of the best out there, and again, cheap too!
