i always find threads like these amusing. Do people really care so much about what other people do that they need to make a thread denouncing how other people modify their cars? Different strokes for different folks, some of you guys are acting like it's an insult to you personally how different people who aren't even driving acuras (based on the pictures posted) want to customize their cars.
Not everyone needs a race car for daily driving, not everyone wants a full blown show car, but at the end of the day, everyone enjoys cars and car culture so to ostracize people who have the same passion as you bc you think it's stupid is just close-minded. That being said, everyone is entitled to their own opinions of course but it never seemed right to me to personally attack those whose cars you don't like.
I like all types of different cars and styles and obviously not every one appeals to me, but understanding that the owners of those vehicles do what they do bc it's what they like, i won't sit behind a keyboard and rip their cars apart bc i don't personally agree with how they went about their modifications

I'll say this:
I'm really careful with my wheels and tires. I can't remember the last time I scuffed them, or w/e. Then on Monday, I got too close to the curb. I heard the awful sound. I cringed, then went out to look at the carnage.
I scuffed the tire, not the wheel. A spray of shine, and all was normal. If I had done that with these other 'popular' fads, I would have ruined the wheel.

Once again, if you don't want people to criticize you, then don't post anything on the internet. People, even strangers probably talk about you in real life too, you just don't know it.... but you can't really do anything about it, can you?
I remember when I was driving on my stockies.... I could drive and not give a damn about curbs. 245/50/16 on 16x8 wheels IIRC. The sidewall was huge and stuck out from the wheels. I remember one time I was late for school and I somehow sneaked by this dumbass in an SUV at a red light. My passenger side tires rode up the curb a little bit (the right side of the car went a little higher) and the driver's side mirror was maybe half a foot from the SUV... no small task in an F-Body.
The tires were scuffed up, but the wheels were untouched

It happens....stockies or my 19's if I hit a curb they're toast. I don't care much for my stockies but man when I curb'd the lip of my Rays for the first time I was pretty upset...so I took a dremel to it and sanded down the area until it was really fine, then used some metal polish and it looks about 80% better. You can't see any damage unless you are within two feet of the wheel, whereas before you could see the curb damage walking up to the car....beats spending $180 to fix

Burning Brakes
Damaging your rims is almost unavoidable. It only takes one quick distraction or just a little error in judgment for your wheel to hit the curb.
It's still painful when you first damage them though. Especially if they're expensive.

having my OEM truck-like sidewall tires on my Camaro was good while it lasted. The Vredesteins have a "curb" protector which sticks out from the part where the bead is though, but I haven't had a chance to really try it, except for one time when it was dark as hell.... climbed right up a curb wasn't as bad as I thought though
Still don't know how they ride VIP style though.... even forged wheels would eventually bend in the streets of San Jose

Ive f*cked up one wheel and that was a crazy pothole/crater in the road I missed due to a lapse in attention. Got it fixed two days later though because the damage hurt my eyes everytime I saw it.
I dont park near curbs anymore, and I dont partake in the stretched tire look so Im not constantly fixing wheels.

この道は毛むくじゃらのマンコだらけ..
It's probably just another fad. I'm indifferent towards this style, but I seriously think it's getting way too overplayed... all kinds of cars are doing this now, it was cool to see people being unique, and not just Lexus' and Infinitis going this style and all looking the same... It's now getting ridiculous, not to mention some of these people have transformed their cars into a mobile death machine by trying to fit retardedly oversized wheels by adding way too much camber.... they've probably spent more money on their wheels than the car.
My personal experience: When driving with the other shop cars to a show 2 hours away in San Diego, we were turning heads very often, but that was a bad thing. We caused an accident, and a few other close calls. Luckily the accident happened to the right of us, but of course you have to be prepared in case they swerve over to your lane. But hey, it's not your fault because you didn't hit someone. BTW, I mainly see college students and young adults doing this and wondered where they are getting their money. Hopefully they're not "sponsored by mom and dad"... that's just a complete and utter waste of money.
Just like drifting (No offense to the drift enthusiasts here, I still am one). Companies are starting to get more into the "VIP style" market more? Companies are starting to kill off drifting/race suspension. --VIP is where the money's at.
From a logical point of view- this is one of the most retarded things you can do to your car, you're putting tons of stress on suspension and drive related components which aren't meant to take on this stress. It's a different style though, and if you have the money to flaunt, or love the style, why not? As long as you aren't making your car your number one priority, *Ahem D&R thread* by all means do what you want. You can't make everyone happy and you shouldn't be trying to. Your car is to express your own individuality. Just don't go broke and wrap your life savings around the block of metal. Honestly I would just save up the money used and buy an Aston or a Ferrari. But all kinds of people have different views

I'm buying a mtn bike very soon and I'm getting the hitch with the rack that mounts the bike behind the rear bumper. I don't want to be associated with the roof rack trend. Plus it looks like it's easier to carry the bike without scratching up the roof.

One on the right for me
I haven't noticed the roof rack trend. If you have shit to carry on your roof, put one on. If not, keep it off. People always seem to do sill things to the cars they drive - as evidence by the shit in this thread.

if both are installed right neither should damage the paint...
but yea, need to figure it out soon, my BMX will fit in the car with the seats down... a MT bike will not

I curbed and dented my wheels about 2 weeks after buying them (previous set). It was one of the worst FML moments ever. I couldn't believe after all that time invested in searching for the perfect set, one false turn and it went all to sh*t.

tow hook is authentic j's racing. mounts to the frame and could actually be used to pull the car.

and i wasnt jabbing at the authenticity of the hook itself (although i commend you for having a functional one).
i was more so talking about the fact that its always visible instead of using one that mounts to the frame, and the hook is detachable so its not always there messing up the front end's looks.
nothing wrong with wanting an iffecient way to tow your car without effing it up.. but the towhook craze has become more of a visual item then a functional one. i'd opt for the ones that can be hidden.

Since all you wanna talk sh*t about my car and being that the OP wanted to use my car to start this thread, here you go, Don't know why u guys think I have excessive poke when my rims tuck under my rear quarter panel under load. But to the OP thanks for postin up pics of my car, if you're ever at a show and see my car come and say wassup to me
