I like the G35, Murano and S60. Not necessarily in that order. Most of the reasons have already been listed.
I personally like the flexibility of the Murano the most, but since your wife will already have an SUV, then you may not need the space. And the new design makes it looks cheap. But I drove a couple and really liked them.
The new look of the G35 is really eye catching. Solid engine. I didn't too like the mileage of the old ones and I don't think the new one is much better, and personally I thought the old ones were not as comfortable as my I35. I think the new models are a lot better.
The S60 has always been a favorite of mine. I would get one if I could afford it. When I was car shopping I considered it, but I couldn't swing the payments.

I would MUCH rather have the G35 rather any anything else on that list...maybe the Maxima... New design is coming out soon and it looks pretty nice.

Comes to about 36K with the Premium package....I love the idea of the HD player, but looks like its only with Nav, which bumps it up to $38k.

If you can live with the looks the 09 TSX may be a great option for you. No doubt its better than the 04-08. Peppier, slightly bigger, its well within your range (under 35K out the door), has all the toys you like and need (Aux hookup, USB jack, Nav, Sat Rad, traffic and weather updates, Great stereo) and is pretty good on gas. Only thing that bothers me is the fact thats its a first year design (bugs) I'd test drive one for sure.

CPO RL... you can get an '06 with ~20k miles for around $35k. That will give you about 80k miles to go on the extended powertrain warranty. SH-AWD for winter driving, XM Nav Traffic, backup camera and AUX in jack for your iPod, DVD-Audio Surround Sound.

If you get an A4 and you have another kid, putting a rear-facing child seat in that thing is gonna be murder. I used to have an A4 and I did that once... never again! Much more room for that in the '04 TL I have now.
Plus, as I've stated in other threads, my '01 A4 was a maintenance nightmare. Take that for what it's worth - I don't want to make any sweeping statements about Audi reliability so I won't get mobbed again by the e-gestapo.
I just would never recommend an Audi to anyone after my experience.
