FFS KURT: Tesla Edition
You're gonna need to babysit the adjuster and tell him that the hail did not, in fact, cause the panel gaps to appear... so that doesn't affect the final repair figure.
in some ways, I kind of lucked out. I'm in the middle of switching auto insurance companies and this happened before I canceled the old insurance. The old company will jack up my rate and then I'll just leave.
Well, good news is the car isn't totaled. Body shop can't start work on the car until mid May because of the massive amount of hail we had in the area. At least with hail, the car is drivable.

You laid the e-
there, FFS!
Kurt, did the ICE cars at the gym have as many dents as your model 3? I assume the panels are more chinsy to make the car lighter. thus more damage occurs dueing events like hail.
FYI builder, you're still blocked because I don't fraternize with racists.
However, if you weren't complete human filth (which you are), I would say everyone got hit pretty bad. The difference is the aluminum and glass pieces aren't as repairable as steel parts.

This won't happen lol. If it were to really be the case then they'd roll out an "update" like this to all cars, not just EV's.
Can you imagine how many people would be fucking livid if that happened? There would be more lawsuits than you can possibly imagine. The government can't even get out of its own way to ban giving guns to lunatics let alone neutering EV's so people don't crash.
My main gripe about this kind of feature/"upgrade" is that the car already has the ability to do that built in from the factory...but you have to pay Tesla extra for the permission for them to let you use what the car's hardware is already made of...due to its high reliance on software. It's essentially a business model where they build it in and then if you have to use it..you gotta pay extra.
Imagine if the Hellcat cars came only standard with the black key and you had to pay extra to get access to the red key....similar situation and one that does not sit well with me at all. Or if you had to pay BMW/Mercedes/Audi/etc. extra to unlock the Sport+/Race modes in their driving software....

Charging people more for a tune is good business for any automaker and they all do it without shame.

BMW/Mercedes/Audi all already do just this. The difference between the M3/M4 and the competition models is just a tune. Same for the X3M and others. With, C63 and C63S are again, just a tune.

One thing is they'll never get a cent of my money!!!

Bro, come on, what are you 12? Last I saw you had a skinhead. I have curly locks.
Glossed over this from months ago...

Not everyone needs or wants the tune though.
Out of the box is "good enough" for most and for those that it isn't there are aftermarket tunes that could void warranty.
I don't think it's so horrible to leave the extra power on the table as an option you can pay for.
I think with Audi it's just model upgrade...A5, S5, RS5. Big cost difference but they make it feel
like a substantial enough of an upgrade to warrant the cost.
@SamDoe1 That is true...I guess I'll just keep that in my head from now on and hope you're right about that.
Either way though, if it goes the way tech has been going...EV will be cheap and attainable in the next couple of
decades.

Yeah, I posted in my thread. I just can't get over the price and miles of the M3 vs the Tesla plus I have a friend that made the switch from M3 to Tesla and his opinion cemented it. The big issue right now is that used car prices are through the roof right now, something like 20% up. Good time to sell your car or trade in for a new one, terrible time to buy a used car. Couple years ago, a similar age/mileage M3 would be in the high 40k range.
It's really strange at first. 0-60 in 3.7 (mine is actually 3.9) is pretty crazy on instant torque.
I can't wait to be able to cross-shop models.
I'm thinking about posting a bunch of tips for buying one of these, but I don't know if it warrants a new thread or not.

Since these glorified golf carts just sound like ghost farts as they drive, does Tesla give you the option of picking a mp3 file to give it a driving sound?
When I dropped my kid off today, I heard a sound that I can only describe as like a bubbling noise like the Jetsons cars made on the cartoon. When I looked up, the only thing I saw was a Tesla backing out of a spot and driving off...
So is that a thing? Can you do that? Because if so, that ratchets the car up a notch in my book.

The car does make some noise, particularly when pre-conditioning the battery and it does sound like a spaceship.
