not yet. We're getting the estimate Sunday. We're supposed to get a rental but enterprise is a pile of shit. We still have the Y and I'm still working from home.

This is literally the fourth event with the Teslas this year.

1) Someone backed the Y into the garage door)
2) bent two rims on the Y on a road trip
3) lost the other two tires on that roadtrip
4) Hail

I've just kind of had it. I shouldn't bitch here because I have money and I can afford to fix/own these cars. It's just so annoying.

Yikes...that stinks. The -yingyang superstition in me would've told me to get out of the Tesla brand as I have bad juju with it.

Anyways, sorry again about the bad luck.

I have thought more than once about it but that's just silliness.

The only way I would leave is if the 3 is totaled, which I doubt.

Just think of it this way - the dents are for high speed stability, like a golf ball

That does suck though. I know what you mean about being over shit that's out of your control in regards to a car. For me, it was liberating to get rid of the offending vehicle.

I want to blame Tesla for this and be like I told you so...
but that literally could have happened to any car.
Anyway...couldn't have happened to a more level headed and patient guy.
Hope you're well otherwise, Kurtis.

It's fine. I'm getting past it slowly. Hopefully it's not totaled.

Glass roof is cracked even. Whoops.

I got caught in hail while on the road in the Mercedes, people stopped the highway by parking under an overpass & leaving everyone behind to deal with it.
Pretty unnerving having hail bouncing off the glass roof above your head
Luckily, no dents or damage then, either.

yup. It's a bit unnerving to be in minor hail. I haven't seen anything like that before.

Same thing with me last summer. Hail storm with small hail pellets. The downpour was so bad that I could not see ahead and had to pull over and pray nothing went wrong with the car. Luckily, no hail damage.

The hail did manage to curb your wheels though, I'm sure

Meh, it's a fact of life at this point. I'll admit this whole experience has broken some of my perfectionism towards my vehicles.

If I didn't hear or feel it from the torrential downpour and hail, it didn't happen.

That's a reality. It's going to be used, it's going to be nicked and damaged along the way.

Any dates/ETA yet towards the repairs?

I have a plan if the 3 is totaled. I kind of doubt it because the car is pretty new still, but it's hard to tell at this point.

Well, one vote to return to Korean-German. Of course, BMW is fine too but you aren't douchey enough.

lol thanks. I think I have to do some soul searching. I think what hit me the most is "look, you spent $50k on a car and now it's a dumpster fire". I like the idea of a car I don't have to worry about being trashed. Even if it means getting a slower car.

If the 3 is savable, I'll do that.

There's no way that some hail damage totalled out a $50k car unless there's a ton of other damage that came at the same time.

That's what I'm thinking, too. I'm guessing it depends on how many panels they have to replace. My understanding is PPF isn't all that viable on the aluminum parts. Also, the roof glass and windshield will be replaced, obviously.

All i'm reading is that it's the wife's fault for going to the gym If she were at home binge-watching Netflix while finishing a whole tube of Pringles, the car would still be safe
