I've paid my dues. The long nights brainstorming quality threads. The irritation of troll mods screwing with my av. Dealing with stalkers like madcaps and flipster.

I'm as OG as anyone else on this damn site.

Would I be a hipocrite for poo-pooing Acura, then picking up a 2012 TL w/ tech pkg and SHAWD for ~$24K? Hmmmmmm..... The down side is 60K miles on the clock.

Frankly, this kills my aspirations for a TLX. I want a shifter. On my BMW I play with the Steptronic every day.

Yesterday I went to the MTL Auto Show. I sat in about 50 cars including 3 TLX. I don't understand why they messed with the hideous display cover on center of the dash - it looks ugly. What were they thinking?

The One that I was all around was the F80 M3. It was a manual one, with full leather covered including dash. Beautiful but 98K$? Ugh. The Surprise of the night was the Cadillac CTS. The interior in dark brown leather was fabulous. No Audi, BMW or Merc in that price range have a better interior.

BTW, there was no RLX on display.

The mileage isn't the downside. The appearance is.

That creeps me the hell out, tbh. I remember before I bought my CL back in 08 I saw a ~3 year old RSX that had 77k on it. Add to that the fine touches of Fast & the Furious paraphernalia on it.

I am kind of disappointed in the new RLX.

Dear Acura this is your FLAGSHIP and as such you do not cheapen it by making it in a FWD version...

RDX is a sweet ride for a midsized SUV but you screwed it up in 2 areas

1. FWD Option

2. Halogen lighting standard, Xenon with tech package only...

Even Subaru has enough sense to make HID standard on Legacy or Outback 3.6R and that costs significantly less....with MORE features 37K gets you everything available on the car including Eyesight, AWD, HID, Brake assist, adaptive cruise control, VSA, Moon roof, Push button start, Navigation etc...

BTW a RDX with similar features runs about 39K right now and it does not even have the same level of AWD performance....

Acura used to be about getting the best bang for the buck...Well others are filling that void...

RDX and ILX are the value models of the lineup. Complaining that they have halogen lamps is like complaining that a Civic has cloth seats.

Majofo,

You totally MISSED the point. at one point ALL Acuras came standard with HID lighting.... If you are touting yourself as a luxury car maker, then provide said features that are considered standard on a LUXURY car

Same for Lexus, BMW, Merc and Audi, except they have the prestige to sell cars with nothing for higher price.

I think only Infiniti is the brand (since 2003) that came with HID standard on all cars but once in a while, i see a G35 with Halogen.. No idea where that came from, maybe the guy is so broke that he can't replace the HID, so he converted it to Halogen.

3 series dont come standard with HID until you hit the 335 trim level. 320 and 328 come with halogen standard.

So...between Audi offering FWD models and BMW having models that come standard with halogen lights...Im trying to figure out what Yeamaimai is bitching about. Im sure he'll come up with something about me following him around the forums, but as usual I've been replying to this thread for some time and I've just pointed out to opposing arguments.

Acura should offer HID's as standard. Audi and BMW offer it as an option on their lower models (A3/4 and 320/328). At least they offer leather as standard (BMW does not and Audi does).

When Acura first came on the scene, they offered only 1 option on their cars... Auto or manual, the rest of the car came with a long list of features (for the time) Acura used to be about getting the best bang for the buck. Now they are just one of the many to choose from and their name cannot carry them anymore.

When you can buy a SUBARU OUTBACK with a comparable interior and MORE features than a RDX, something's wrong with what you are doing with your product line. As much as I like the RDX, it's a no brainer buying an Outback for roughly 2K less with more stuff and BETTER AWD capabilities....

I don't like the color temperature of HIDs or the void of blackness above the cutoff line. Point the RDX downhill and the whole world goes away.

Best lights I've ever used are still the halogens on my Mk4 GTI. On high, the 4 H7 halogens blaze down the road and outperform any HIDs I've ever driven.

Maybe the manufacturers are getting away from HIDs too. I've seen some well equipped new VWs with halogens.

That is why you need to auto leveling (Up and down) and Adaptive (Left and right) features on HID, which Acura never offered if i recall correctly.

Is your RDX Bi-xenon? or just low beam? Have you tried HID with High beam? it is not even the same league with any Halogens.

Halogens are going to be extinct within the new 3-5 years with more and more low end cars (Corolla and Camry) come with HID/LED as standard and Laser as option.

Hell, my 07 Speed3 had leveling HIDs, but it was via a switch. I think the new ones have auto leveling plus AFS.

My Touareg had bi-xenon, computer adjusted, auto-level. Low was too low and high was too high. Plus incredibly expensive sensors and motors that failed too often. But that might be a VW thing. My son's STI has the driver selectable HID leveling, which is a bit of an improvement, but still has the shortcomings of xenons.

RDX has halogen high beams, but when they can't be used, the xenon cutoff line is dangerous.

I will not own anything less than xenon HID lights. I have yet to find a halogen that is better. Both of my cars have it. Hell, my Saber had D2S bulbs in a glass housing.
