My opinion? Won't happen. I hope it happens, but it won't.

Potential Mitsubishi Evo buyers revolt over dealer markups

By AUTOWEEK

Without driving cross-country to confirm reported price gouging on the hot, rally-inspired 271-hp Mitsubishi Evolution, suffice it to say that enough potential buyers are up in arms that they’ve mounted a nationwide boycott campaign.

With only 4500 to sell this year, and just 6000 annually in coming years, some dealers have reportedly tacked as much as $28,000 onto the $28,987 to $30,200 MSRP, although a more typical markup is in the $5,000-to-$10,000 range.

Good its serves the dealer's right to have to deal with this sh!t. However I still think they'll sell all 4500 cars this year.

Huh?? with that type of markup, you could buy a loaded bmw 330 or a stripped Corvette. Who the heck would pay that kind of money for a Mitsubishi ??

They may not sell all of them with those ridiculous mark ups, but there will still be plenty of people with money who will buy them.

Agreed... even though those markups are rediculous... they will sell all 4500 cars.

That markup is too much. Don't buy them until the dealers realize their mistakes.

Yeah, they aren't even selling the full rally version which would have competed with the WRX Sti.

With the 28K markup you could buy a loaded Z06 (base is 52K IIRC), if the dealer only marks it up 10-15K, you'll have to settle for a regular 'vette

So, lemme get this straight, after getting raped on the price of the car, the losers then have to deal w/ the worst dealer network in the US. Talk about two-time losers! Just wait till these poor SOB's go to Mitsu w/ a problem-every dealer I went to in Bflo (2/3) had their heads buried so far up their ass they were asking me how to fix my car!! Never again wld I buy a Mitsu, never.

Great cars to be had for $55k

a) used (very very used) M5, E55
b) new 540i 6-spd
c) new M3
d) and about a thousand other awesome cars ....

I'd love to chat w/ the guy who paid $25K over the MSRP on a new Lancer turbo... I would LOVE to talk to him or her...

me: So what's it like being clinically insane?

him/her: sweet! now that I have this awesome Mitsubishi!!

me: does food sometimes dribble out the side of your mouth when you're eating, w/o you being conscious of it?

him/her: yes!! how'd you know?

me: so I bet you've been told you're a threat to yourself and maybe even society...

him/her: <sigh> yeah... i have been told that, yes.

me: loser.

True, Mitsu has one of the worst set of dealers out there (as far as service). I have experienced it myself several times.
