Wonder if it had the "Police Interceptor" nameplate on the back. If so, doubly stupid.

that plate doesn't mean anything anymore with the recent popularity of used up police cars going for so cheap.

True, but for anyone with an IQ larger than their shoe size, it would be a tip-off that there might be cops inside, significantly lowering the odds that they'll get away with it, and a jacker with a modicum of intelligence doesn't take unnecessary risks of being caught. Some departments deliberately order their unmarked cars with "Crown Victoria LX" on the back, so you can't always tell, but if you're going to jack a car it's just better to stay away from that one model.

A friend of mine in high school had one. She kept a hair dryer in it and pretended it was radar, and would sit at the side of the road to watch people slam on their brakes as they saw her.

I wonder if there was tint on the car's windows, since the cops inside were in uniform.

I don't recall seeing many "Police Interceptor" badges on any SoCal law enforcement agency Crown Vics, except for CHP, and that was only on the rear trunk, IIRC.

A few weeks ago we got one as a rental car in the US...As we pulled up to my sister's house (lives in white trashville DE) about 10 kids ran and scattered (including my nephew - who is currently in jail)...He came in and told me that we scared the crap out of the block...

Some police cars and unmarked units are Impalas here. My friend borrowed her dad's Impala to drive up to their cottage, about 2.5 hrs outside of the city. She said people moved over and cleared the lanes for her the entire way.

When I worked at Hertz (transporting cars), I would charge down the left lane of highways in our Crown Vics and cars would literally dive out of way.

A guy at our cottage used to have a crown vic. He was a Amateur Radio Hobbiest (had plates something like that) He had his CB antenna and some other radio antenna on it. He said he loved his drives down the HWY watching every one slam on the brakes thinking he was a cop

I'm still trying to figure out why they would WANT a Crown Victoria?? If anything they should have waited for a Mercury Mauruder.
