Dodge Charger - not bad at all
--------------------------------------------------------------------------------
Before all you Acura TL fans flame me, I just wanted to say that I still think the Acura is an Acura (reliablity, etc.) and a Dodge is still a Dodge. Not to knock Dodge or anything, I just think of Acura as a higher end brand.
With all that said, I test drove the Dodge Charger 5.7L V8 R/T. One thing is for sure, the power is much better then the Acura. The engine comes in at 340 hp. They will be releasing the RXT, I think that is the model, with a 6.1L V8 at 425 horsepower. Anyways, the ride wasn't bad at all. The interior doesn't come close to the Acura, but for an American car it isn't that bad. The interior room seemed to be more then the TL, I don't have exact numbers, but that my perspective. The car also feels much bigger then the TL, which I didn't like. The cost of the car is actually the same if not more then a TL. The RWD is excellent with that much horsepower.
If the Dodge Charger wasn't priced were the TL is then I would definitely investigate further. Still the TL is the better vehicle IMO. My wife said it perfectly, when she knows someone drives an Acura, she thinks ok, they are doing pretty good in life, when they drive a Dodge, it is just a Dodge. Again this isn't to knock anyone that has a Dodge, but there is a difference. The best part of the Charger was the power and the RWD, that is were it ends.

I'll bet the Mecedes-Benz 5 speed auto in the Charger >> Acura TL's 5A

will be nice to know your transmission will last you longer than the TL as every other part of your car falls apart at the seams

Anyone can feather the clutch, change gears, rev match, double clutch and heel and toe downshift, but it takes a REALLY skilled driver to drive an automatic car.

I like the fact that the base 250hp V6 comes at a low price. The Magnum base is the weak 190 and if you want the 250hp engine you have to get the SXT. As far as getting the V8 for $30k, I'd rather get a GTO. Of course the GTO has only 2 damn doors. GM needs to bring over the Holden Commodore SV6 and SV8.

The V8 is way too expensive. For the (lack of) interior goodies, I couldn't justify it.

While the front of the body looks good when you get to the back of it you end up getting depressed. And the interior is traditional Dodge/Chrysler. Cheap materials that LOOK like they have been snapped on. Chrysler/Dodge people please listen, stop using the cheap materials, it annoys me the hell outta me because this is the third vehicle in a row that initially sparked my interest, only to end up depressing me because of the crappy interior. I'll hang on to my TL, thank you!

It seems that it costs so much to make a decent domestic with a nice interior. Domestics rarely have a nice interior that are affordable. Remember guys. For these domestics to be affordable they gotta cut costs somewhere.

The SRT-8 Charger is going to awesome, even the R/T is hot.
Mid $30k's for the SRT-8= Bargain.
That's what I figure since the SRT-8 Magnum bases at $37,995.
Why would I want a TL 6spd? Torque steer central, no thank you.

Who cares about 0-60 anyway? How many times do you find yourself flooring it 0-60 during daily commutes? The one second that the charger would have on the Acura does not outweigh the bad things.
I would rather have an Acura with torque steer than a plastic POS on steriods any day. And talking about torque steer and handling, it must be really fun whipping a 4000+ lbs car around corners...
Thanks Dodge, but there's more to owning a car than straight line performance. Give me a 6 speed TL with Navi.
