Do these look new?

I recently got a system done in my car, I bought everything from the shop and let them install it for me. So I did not see any of the equipment before hand. This was done one month ago, on July 1st.

So I have been hearing a rattle coming from the door, and opened up the door. First I was shocked to see the condition of the woofer, and secondly the woofer was being held in by 3 screws because the basket would not fit. The shop just left the huge gap underneath even though the speaker didn't fit they didn't bother making a MDF spacer.

This is a signature JL dealer, and the serial #s are illegible on both the woofers, but found one that was legible on the tweeter.
I am sure the first and last set of digits are for the date. So I am assuming these speakers are from May 2008.

Enjoy the pics

Whats sad is this shop is 2 hours away from me and I have been going there for 12 years for all my cars and family members. 6 month ago they changed ownership...........

So the owner is driving down to Tampa tomorrow to delivery me a check for other damage they caused.

I will inform them about the speakers tomorrow, cant wait to hear the BS excuse.
I already contacted my credit card company I have 60 more days to file a dispute, since the product is not as promised.

Wow, I do better, more professional work in my garage. The silicone is absolutely mind blowing. The cones being smashed in could have been caused by them rattling around, but the rust on the crossovers are very telling. It's also sad that you're meeting with the owner for "other damage" on your car. Sorry to see this man, you definitely got taken for a ride.

Make sure to have these pics with you on your phone or laptop when you meet with dude

I'd be asking for replacements and a redo with discount for hassle otherwise expect a charge back. Or better yet, get a refund and go somewhere else/do it yourself

So sorry about this man and I know you were excited to get your new system and what's so mess up is that they knew what they were doing however they installed used or demo products, you have a strong case to sue them if you wish however I hope the new shop owner finds a resolution to fix the issue and your time loss. If I were you I would contact JL Audio so they can be remove from their signature list. Can you imagine who else have been victim of this BS.

Pics....This dude is gonna get his speakers back and if they don't refund the money, calling Sapphire and I am getting $425 plus tax plus 2 hours of labor back(separate invoice not pictured) on my CC.

I can do all the audio work at home but working fulltime and grad school kills all my free time.

But tonight I did make MDF spacers for the door that are angled so they allow proper clearance. Ordered the C5s from another authorized dealer so those will be here Thursday.

That sucks. The first clue that something is wrong is that they listed the compnent set as #MISCITEM. That pretty much means they sold you used speakers that they took out of someone else's car. I used to work for a shop and that is how we had to list all used items as it was not out of our new stock. Also, rust on the crossovers? not after a month in the doors of these cars. Not buy that at all... They screwed you. They better make it right.

Damn. That stuff's not new, and the install was horrible. They probably would've hardwired a head unit if you had bought one. Hopefully it works out for you. I'd be getting a full refund and disputing the charges if I didn't. As for those saying he should have the shop fix it, I wouldn't let them near my car a second time. Full refund only so he can go elsewhere or do it himself.

It seems like there are very few shops who take the time to do a quality job. But they have no problem charging you for one. I honestly think I'm done with aftermarket audio. It's not worth the hassle honestly. Glad to see you did get your money back. Hope it all works out for you.

Original shop that fucked up was Ultimate Audio Designs in Ocala FL.

I see you are in Tampa as well

Autostyles did a great job on the install and double checked all of ultimate audios doings and found a couple of other mess ups .

Glad you got your refund, and a proper install. Hopefully the jerk who did your original install (if you can even call it that) never touches another car again.

Hopefully the owner of the first shop fired the nimrod who "installed" your system. Glad you got what you were asking for.

I think you are one of the few to have a good experience with the new owner of Ultimate Audio. I took my daughters 2005 TSX there to have a bluetooth adapter installed. They screwed up the XM - and then called me and told me that XM wasn't working when we brought it in. I had to go down there and play with the settings they screwed up to make it work again. Then, they couldn't make the bluetooth adapter work, but wouldn't refund my deposit because "they couldn't return it and they spent a bunch of time on it. On top of all of that, they broke the radio bezel up by the AC vent when putting it back together and then superglued it to hide the mistake. We figured it out about a week later when the super glue failed and the crack became very obvious.the only way to fix it is to buy a used TSX radio and housing for $350. Needless to say, I filed a chargeback on the work. When the owner found out about it, he called we and told he I wasn't allowed to file a chargeback. When I told him about the dash, he cussed me out and called me a liar. We have owned this car for 7 years, and the dash had never been pulled until they did it (looking at a number of install videos, it didn't even need to be pulled for this). From what I can tell, this used to be a very good company until this new guy bought it - not so much anymore.
