My post was in response to Big Mikes. Is everyone having reading difficulty tonight?
I know what he pulled off was nothing short of amamzing considering all the wiring involved and all the parts diffences.
If you see my first post I said what he did is incredible.

Read 166-167. Its a whole recap from page one.
For those people that dont know what he did, he put a M3 engine, SMG, NAV, supercharger, etc in his MY02 323i. Took him 1-2 year to finish the outside. Still has to do the interior.
He has spent close to 70k give or take 10K. And he only has two car. The other M3 is his Mom's car, so is the van. He owns the 323i and C230k.

I was just looking for a synopsis on "PROJECT MITE46" like
"2000 323i : M3 engine transplant".
Yes that's an awesome job.

kudos to the guy, but there has got to be something wrong with him... I can understand the sleeper aspect of the project, but it would seem that his talents would have been better spent somewhere else.
MIT grad or not, it doesn't make much sense to me... I think it's funny when "smart" people do "stupid" shit...
He should have bought an M3 and stuck 323 badges on it

i'm impressed. he did alright for saying he didnt know much about cars to begin with. thats a huge project, especially considering it was a bmw.

I guess BMW doesn't make a high performance sedan
If the sleeper factor and the "I don't like coupes" factor are the only reasons for this $70K swap, I'm guessing he wasn't a finance major...
Kid does some incredible work, I just don't see the reasoning in tearing apart a perfectly good 40K mile BMW, throw $70K at it, instead of buying a sports sedan...
Now if he was going to put M power into an old e10, now that's something I can understand

That's crazy stuff....just find it odd that someone would spend 2 and a half years putting together a BMW M3 conversion to the 4 door. The outlay of money was probably ridiculous....so ridiculous he probably would have been better off getting an '06 M5..... What's even crazier is that he thought it would take 2-3 months..(p.1)Then again, I've got my '66 Mustang for 6 years, still trying to restore it... same chit?

>> maybe he's just trying to keep busy
hmmm $70K cash spent...
How about the productive cost of TIME he, an MIT guy, put into the project eh
I say someone like him can earn at least $70K with the time.
Yeah awesome achievement and insane.
He's obvious from very wealthy family that much is certain.
Track-test - I hope he doesn't forget to get a big life insurance policy and a good flamesuit when the time comes for WOT track test.

most of us mod our cars... he just took modification to another level.... with all that $$ and time he spent.. of course he could have gotten an exotic.... but his 3 series is one of a kind.... unique and especially he did almost everything himself when he didnt have a lot of knowledge about cars....
There is more than just a M3 engine swap, SC, Navi and etc....he is using M3 suspension but i still dont know how he made it fit without getting a widebody.

I think the project/synopsis were awesome. Money is obviously no object for this guy. Maybe he didn't buy an m3 because he wanted to build one of his own? Sounds like a fun way to spend time to if I was rich..

But that's soooo different... Want a 4 door supercar and want to stick to BMW? I say get an M5. What would you upgrade to if you had an NSX and wanted to stay within the family?
