From what I remember this was a pre-production car that was crushed because it wasn’t certified for USA road use after testing.
Sad, but it happens every day.
I saw an article on one Vette website were there are nearly a HUNDRED 2006 Z06’s heading for the crusher in a few weeks.
They’re built by hand on the assembly line to test out the equipment then driven around for several weeks by GM employee’s.
Then it’s CRUSH CITY for them.
And usually the manufacturer has someone at the scrap yard to video/photograph the carnage for insurance purposes.
That’s where these types of photos come from.

shawn has got it. I remember these pics from this site years ago, and also from a Nissan site stating the same thing. Also, it seems like there are two differentcars being executed. Look at the lower front bumper of the car in the first 3 pics, and then compare it to the lower front bumper of the pics after that. they are not the same car, hence the story of the street racer is untrue. Besides the car would likely be auctioned off or prepared for police use rather than be destroyed. Myth Busted!
