My boy has a 2001 V6 Eclipse and was wondering if he can do a VR4 3000 GT engine swap. He is not impressed with the power of his V6 at all. Will this motor fit in his car?

 

you can swap any engine into any car for a price.

I'm guessing since the eclipse is FWD, the engine is transversly mounted. I believe (although I'm not an expert) The VR4 3000GT's were AWD, and I would guess its engine is mounted longitudinal (Not even sure if I'm using the term right)

Anyway, as I said before, it can be done, but for a price. in the end, not worth it for an 01 eclipse IMO

 

3000gt's are transverse too...but i still don't think it'll fit...easily.
tell your boy a supercharger or turbo should fix his power problem a little easier and whole lot cheaper

 

also, you'll have to look into your states laws, out here in Cali you can't swap a motor into a car that is older then the car itself

 

I think this is true in every state.
