And one more thing. I've decided to wait until after I go to either the Detroit or Toronto auto shows to make my decesion. If Honda shows off the Fit and I like it, I'd be willing to wait til the fall.

Damn confused
I think you are confusing me as well.

If all you need is a vehicle to get you to work and back, then there is no need to get anything that expensive.

How long do you plan on keeping this vehicle?

Who is going to be driving the TSX and hwo is going to be driving the new used car?

I don't know what the hell I'm doing. My mind is all over the place. Maybe I should just buy a 2K beater to last the year and then wait to move into an Ody in a few years.

I'd be driving the used car just to and from work BTW.

Ideally I'd like to have something in place when the baby is born but if we have to wait a few months we'll manage.

DEI do you mean a 2000 Civic is way too expensive?

Or (gasp) maybe I should just trade in the TSX now for a new Ody or CR-V?

Why not save that 2K and buy an Ody in a few more months or a year or so? If you are going to spend that much money, then you might as well save a few thousand and get a brand new CR-V. What about a used Ody?

This maybe your best option. Wait until the baby is born and then get something a few months after that. Gives you a chance to save more money, although I am sure most of that money will be used for the new baby.

No that is not what I am saying. Why just by a used car for a year only to get rid of it for a minivan or small suv?

You better not. If you trade it in, it better be for a new TSX, TL, or RL only.

Can't buy an old style Ody knowing that the 05 are that much better. Besides those tranny problems are not something I'm interested in.

We'll see how this shapes up.

Top 5 I can barely pick a top 1.

I can't answer that question because I'm still not sure what direction I'm going in.

- I can buy a CR-V, Element, Montana or Rendezvous, etc something under 25K between now and April

- I may also just buy a beater to get me by for the year or so.

- I may wait to see what the new 06 Civic and Fit look like.

- Or, I may buy nothing.

I like the ideas of CR-V, 06 Civic, and Fit.

Buying nothing as you have said isnt really a practical option.

Actually the 3.4L isn't bad on gas. Its just slightly worse than the CR-V. As for it looks, ya there not great but my wife likes it. Its pratical and although not truly an SUV its not a minivan either. And I've heard nothing but good things (reliability wise) about the 3.4 and the 4 speed auto. Its used in ALOT of the general's cars.

But most importantly, GM used car prices are insanely low. I found a 2004 with 30K, loaded, 7 pass for 22K + taxes which is 25K OTR. A 2003 is sub 20k.

A 25K CR-V gets me an 02 LX with 50K +.

BTW- I'm also looking at Pontiac Montana's. 2003's with 30 to 50k are 15 to 18K depending on options.

You seem to be concentrating on American cars, mostly GM. I have always been a big fan of GM, but their products as of the past few years have been terrible.
