1st gen CR-V's were too smallish and underpowered.

I just put an offer in on a 2003 CR-V LX. They were asking 25K + taxes but agreed to sell for 27K on the road (22950 + Taxes). I went back at 25K on the road (21250 + taxes). I got a few appraseils on the CR-V LX and they were a low of 18 to a high of 20,200 so I'm guessing they paid at most 20K.
Did I go way too low? 25K was more than I wanted to spend but this truck is in great shape. Still no way I'm going above 25K though.

If it was too much, then why buy it now? Why not wait a little longer?
Anyways, if you are happy then congrats and...

15% tax, its killer.
DEI, I didn't buy anything yet, I seriously doubt they'll accept that offer, its 4K less than they were originally asking, but I figured I have nothing to lose and it doesn't hurt to ask. As for buying now. Its an extremly clean CR-V with low Km's (14,375miles), they're hard to find.

You never know though, they might just be willing to just sell it and be gone with it. That is low mileage for a 2003. Good find if they accept the offer. Let us know when you hear.

Exactly, I'm no further ahead or behind then I was anyway.
And DEI, also regarding why I'd buy now, I need the car within 4 months, I seriously doubt CR-V prices will drop a whole lot by then anyway.

You are probably right on that. Hope it works out for you.

Damn, I calculated wrong.
21,750 X 15% = 25,000 and 23,500 X 15% = 27,000.
So maybe I have a chance. I went 3,250 below what they were initially asking and only 1,750 below what they offered without any negotiation.

I told him to let me know either way. But I initially e-mailed him about this CR-V on Monday and heard back this morning. If he doesn't reply back by 4PM, I'll give him a call.
Then again maybe my offer was so low he's insulted.

But if they want your business bad enough, they will call you either way. If they say no, will you go any higher?

I guess they didn't think so as he won't budge on 23,500 + taxes. Oh well.
And no DEI, I won't go any higher than 25K. Its already more than I wanted to spend.
