Corporate fleet vehicle purchase?
Corporate fleet vehicle purchase?
i came across a car that was previously part of a Corporate fleet (Carfax shows corporate registration as first owner)...
does anyone have experience with these types of cars? are they red flags like buying a former rental car?
TIA

i think it really depends on the type of "fleet" vehicle it was. It could have been a rental to a company car. Rentals will tend to be driven harder than the average company car.
I think the maintenance on these cars are very good since they have to be in top shape to perform. I don't really see any issue with buying a fleet car, as long as everything checks out.

Yah like what other said, it depends on what type of car and how it was used.
our company has 2 leased Vans (Oddy and Sienna) that we rarely drive. Put 13,000 miles on the Oddy in 2.5 years. looks brand new. Sold it to Car Max.
or you can have the beat up rental.
It really depends.

they haven't even posted pics of the car yet... must be a recent trade in... i'm thinking about taking a ride to look at it...
i'm interested because it's the rarer 6MT... but always concerned its a 6MT and who knows how they treated the clutch...

I would say if it is rare, then it is always worth looking at, even if you are on the fence about it. If the place isn't too far from you then just go look at it even before the pictures are posted.
What is the worst that can happen? replace a flywheel and clutch disk.. cost a thousand or 2 and it will last you for the remaining of the life of the car.
good investment if you ask me.
Auto.. well we all know what happens when the auto goes wrong.
Be careful with those. neuronbob and majofo can chime in but I ran across a few of those and each of them had some kind of issue. Some had a salvage title (issued per GM), some had no warranty, some had both. In a few instances they were "fleet" vehicles but they were used as their track cars for the CTS-V school... so very beat on.
So definitely be sure to check into those things.
Additionally a few were priced at or above what I paid for mine (clean)... so there was that too

Holy crap. Yeah, those go quick, even if the price is near competitive.
If you're actively looking, have you checked the CTS-V forums? People tend to inflate prices there, but you can usually get them down...

thanks, i'm hoping that with the winter coming, i can get a good deal... i got the green light from the Mrs that at least we can use the Vagon on road trips with the bambino..
Someone probably paid what that dealer was asking. I think it was high, personally.
Shoot, if someone offered $55k for my 34k mile V wagon, I'd have to take a long, long think about it before saying "no". Unlike with my S2000, there is no logical upgrade to such a car. Plus I need it to haul stuff.
WHAAAAAAT?

Of course, if it had no sunroof.....there were so few of those that the sky is the limit. 6MT + wagon + no sunroof is the rarest of the rare unicorns, and more so in a rare color like Stealth Blue or Majestic Plum Metallic or Mocha Steel Metallic.
This sale isn't even a record. One guy put his 6MT V wagon on sale on the CTS-V forum and it was sold in two hours to another forum member.
It happened too fast.
I should have just asked $25k, LOL!
The wagons are currently demanding a $4-5k premium on 6MT sedans of the same year. I haven't seen a 6MT wagon, or ANY V wagon for that matter, sell below $40k yet. The 6MT wagons, no matter the year, are holding out in the mid-upper $40s. The 2014s are in the mid to upper $50's. I personally think this one was priced a bit high and unless the seller was hell bent on their asking price, probably would have settled for $49-50k.

. So like I said above... be prepared to deal with them. If you find one you really like you just need to show them ads like the one you looked at and tell them to get real. If they don't, move on.PS, if you look for more miles you can start to touch low $40k's. There was a nice blue one (automatic though) with like 45k miles for $44k. I believe it's pending now... but keep that in mind when looking. And yes, with winter you'll see a drop in prices. You'll also see a drop in inventory... so you'll need to move quickly.

i'm not opposed to an Auto since Mrs Kam will be driving the car on occasion... i taught my wife to drive stick on the spyder, and if i actually gotten the M6 that i posted, we were going to have refresher courses...
refresher courses on how to drive stick... the spyder is primarily a weekend car, and since we had a baby, she rarely goes in it now since it's a two seater... so it only goes out when i take it to work on a nice day, or the boys and i take cars out for the day...
The V's stick is super-easy. It blips the throttle for you a little as you get into first or second. Makes it incredibly easy to work in heavy traffic. Your wife will love it.
Hey Kamlung, the guy who left a deposit on that wagon dropped it. He posted on the V owners' thread about changing his mind after leaving a deposit. It wasn't about the car, it was about the potential buyer.

the salesman already called me. i'm going to see it tomorrow. i'm still going to start at $49k and see where it takes me. i'm not going to overpay for the car, rare or not. at the end of the day, this car is going to be my DD, not a garage queen.

1. Extremely, exceptionally rare, among 6MT wagons, there are maybe a few dozen at the very most. These will likely be the first Vs to appreciate in value in 10-15 years.
2. More head room for a helmet if you take it to the track.
In the CTS-V world, 6MT wagon without Ultraview is the rarest of the rare unicorns and so generally don't stay on the market long, demanding a price premium in the process.
