Co-Worker Bought A (dirty) Clean-Titled Car
So my one of my coworkers just bought a newer charger from a "reputable" Chevy dealership. The provided a clean and clear history report so all seemed well.
Fast forward to today and she mentioned that her airbag light was on. So they took it to Dodge and Dodge informed her that the car had indeed been in an accident, and that the airbags were deployed.
I guess the impact was on the passenger side, and behind the door panel is starting to rust.
She said that the dealership she bought it from was already giving them a hard time about taking the car back.
How would you guys approach this? Doesn't Carfax have a buy back guarantee or something like that?
I suggested they contact local media if the dealership doesn't make good on this.
Anyone ever deal with this? I'd like to point them in the right direction.
Thanks.

I think carfax does have a gaurentee of some sort, but I don't know much about it. If the dealership gives her a hard time, try calling Dodge Client relations, if that goes no where, lawyer up. I've never been in a situation like this so the advice I offer is advice I have read others give in similar situations.
Anyone can have 10k worth of damage on a car but it wont show up on Carfax if you paid out of pocket to get it fixed.
Its a tough situation but not everything gets reported to Carfax.

how long has it been since she purchased the car?
used cars are sold as is for most part.
Carfax guarantee is that if its reported, its on carfax. doesnt mean if its been wrecked, its on carfax. thats not gonna help what so ever.
most likely she doesnt have a case. should have had an appraiser check it out. otherwise just deal with it.

yeah its a little too late. now dealership can say that the she wreckedd it and trying to pin on them. thats why if you dont know much about cars, you should get an independent to check it out. even if its new.
I have had customers brought over cars, that even they didnt know were wrecked when they bought it new. Happens a lot. especially to cars that get damaged in transportation and on the dealer lot

It's every easy to prove she was not the one who had the accident. All they need to do is check insurance records, bank records, hospital/health insurance records, ECU records from the car, etc... and they'll see she never wrecked. Plus, if it's showing rust in the previously damaged areas it would typically indicate that damage was there for a while (unless you live near the beach or something where things rust overnight)...
Good luck.
