I vow to never turn into a Tesla stan. Taking a deep dive into the Tesla forums, facebook groups and Reddit threads is actually pretty hilarious. The majority of the owners are realists - they share all of the issues they've experienced, all of the shortcomings of the car/build, and what they've done to fix it. So it's really humorous to see the pro-Tesla people defend

Ultimately though, I just wanted to save money and go fast while doing it. I will definitely be back in a gas guzzling, emission spewing, noise making car in a few years once the market settles down and working with dealers isn't horrendous. And hopefully it will be wagon shaped.

It's even more hilarious when those pro-Tesla people don't even have a Tesla.

I'm also going to get a manual trans car that has 8 cylinders, three pedals, and makes a lot of noise just for fun. Just working through other questions like do we need to get a new house or not lol. As a daily, EV life is pretty awesome, especially when you consider that even with 8 cylinders, three pedals, and all that noise the EV would still leave it for dead.

No Doritos, I don't like the taste/smell of burning oil.

EV would still leave it for dead.

You did say that you wanted something that makes a ton of noise for fun, and doritos have that in spades.

And switch to pre-mix, and you don't have to burn crankcase oil.

The funny thing is, there's an aftermarket accessory for frozen handles

https://www.rpmtesla.com/products/mo...39787271782454

It'll be in the garage, so theoretically that won't be an issue.

In the show Invasion, a family trying to escape the city gets in an altercation trying to charge their Tesla & steals a Volvo wagon. Food for thought......

Oooooorrrrr...you go into the app, hit defrost car, and kick back for 5 minutes. Then the car is defrosted, handles clear, and it's toasty warm inside.

In all seriousness, I probably live in one of the coldest places in the US of A and I've never had an issue with handles freezing. I'm not saying it's not a thing but it's not even close to a huge problem. I mean I'd rather deal with waiting 5 minutes for my car to warm up vs rampant transmission failures like Honda has.

If you consider crank bearings to be rotors then yes!

I should have bought a X3M in 2020 when they were basically giving them away. I'm an idiot for not doing that. I bought the Tesla because it was the best bang for your buck performance car on the market...and still is. I too am not going to spend $120k on an AMG wagon. Not my tax bracket.

In a situation like that, Tesla stays and we ride in this. Highway clogged? No problem, roll through the ditch.

@ 8 rotor. That's be a really long engine.
Though, I did see a video of a 'V12' dual 6 rotor Idling along with glasses of water on it, not a ripple.

My double Dorito spinner will likely get rigid mounted We'll see how much NVH that transmits through the chassis.

When the shit was literally hitting the fan (satellites and other space crap falling on houses) they needed to get outa Dodge and their thin one lane driveway was Tesla first, Mom wanted her Audi wagon, they had no choice (they also had a starting issue, Dad's phone had BT off or something) mom literally said YOU HAD TO GET A TESLA?????

My region is probably more likely to deal with frozen handles because we've been getting ice storms more than snow storms lately. But, garage.

Same and same. When I started looking, 10% off MSRP was the norm on the X3MC. I love that car but I can't justify paying full price on something that was regularly discounted.

Maybe. Though, with no reciprocating mass, more just vibration. We'll see how it goes & if a firm rubber mount may be needed.
The PO had it set up for rigid mount, but he was also building it as a dry sumped racecar.

I'm considering nixing the dry sump for simplicity & cost sake.

Don't be a poor and only have a tandem garage. Problem solved.

Garage plus defrost car and you should be fine. Ice storms sound terrible. Would rather have bone chilling cold than ice storms.

Yes, 10% MSRP plus a mountain of rebates and mfr cash on hood brought a X3MC into the ~$55k range. I should have pulled the trigger, I'm a fucking idiot but covid just starting up and companies laying everyone off made me hesitate. Oh well, live and learn. Guess I'm glad to not daily drive a SUV that gets 16mpg on premium with gas being so high now so there's that.

I really wanted to wait for Android Auto on the 2021s. And yeah, the gas mileage would've sucked. But even I did buy then, I probably would've sold it for a profit and picked up a Tesla anyway

However, holding out did see the VW go up about $8k in value, even as the mileage increased. So there's that.

Meanwhile, a coworker is thinking about offloading her A6 (2017 IIRC), and got offers around $9k lower than expected (Carmax & Vroom)

You would make stunna and comfy proud. All you need now is a scooter and a twitter account.

All of those online car sales sites are hugely dependent on location more so than anything else. If there's a demand for a certain car at a certain time of year in your location, the value goes up. Example, Carvana offered a lot more for the Jeep in the winter than in the summer because demand is higher. They offered less overall because of mods. Also, they can't have it.

Yeah, the same Vroom dealer gave me a fair market offer on the Mercedes, pre-market insanity. I was shocked it was such a low offer for an extremely clean A6 with very low miles.
