That little toggle switch for the PDK is plenty enough reason not to buy one. Besides, I have to have a manual. There just is no literally better connection with a car in my view than to shift manually, operate the clutch (or not) and throttle in harmony.

as a manual purist that has given dsg a chance...
I wholeheartedly agree. I understand why the new shit exists but
NOTHING gives me that connected feel like a manual.
I love the Porsche. I keep thinking, I'm over here paying German car
prices on parts and don't even have the best they have to offer. Might
as well step up at some point. A buddy lent me his 2015 911 S for a weekend
once. It left a lasting impression...another couple friend of mine had an S2000
and a custom turbo Cayman...they recently sold both for a red PDK newer one
that apparently is not a TURBO but it also turbo (some loophole with a specific year that got them
even though they weren't the same turbo trim name) and it felt pretty fun to drive.

Wifey: "What are you going to do with the 650?" Me: "Keep it." "You've already got 3 cars!" "Yeah, so?!" lol. A few years back I had 5 cars, she is used to the afflictions of her husband-thankfully.

IMO, I'd trade the 650 for a 911 any day of the week, esp if you have other 4-door cars you can use. Used car market is still HOT and prices aren't coming down anytime soon as far as I can tell.

s2000 is off the table, Suburban too technically...
I *should* get rid of one of the Audi twins but I can't bring myself to choose which.
Merc wagon is my current love affair so that stays, obvi.

Agree with everyone, a car like a 911 deserves a manual, especially in S and GTS trims. I can see not getting a manual in a Turbo because it's just too damn fast and you'd be slowing it down. Ditto for Cayman, Boxster, etc. I'm still saddened that the new Supra doesn't come in manual, I feel like it would have sold a lot better if it did. My next car will both be a manual and be an addition not a replacement, the commitment from the finance manager is already there.

Wait, what? I've completely lost touch with what you have these days.

The Cayman GTS is the one I'd buy just because I'm cheap/poor. Once the used market isn't on fire, I'll start looking into one. That said, a Shelby GT350 is currently high on the list as is the next gen M2. The noise that the Shelby makes is simply amazing.

two dickheads down the street have GT's with after market exhausts. They're entirely nauseating even for a car guy like me to hear some fucking yahoos who love to hear their own exhausts. Kinda like the dickheads who put straight pipes on Harleys. Unnecessary and childish if you ask me.

The sound of the Voodoo engine is intoxicating, it's not annoying like many aftermarket exhausts.

< Briefly had a straight piped Indian in the garage.
On the rare occasion I'd take it out early in the morning, I did my best to get going as soon as it was running, to avoid pissing off all the neighbors.
From what I've seen/read, the Rotus should be pretty tame at idle/low speed.

You mentioned not really relying on this cash...
wondering if it would be too much trouble to get 2 of them? 1 for me and 1 for you?
We could race and drive around the countryside making new memories and taking cool pictures of the cars.
I figured I would ask.

UPDATE: I've been searching avidly on Porsche's site, BaT, eBay, Cars.com and Autotrader for the perfect 911 for at least 2+ months to no avail so I decided to build one and see how close in price I could get to my comfort level. I found I can spec a car exactly as I want it for about $5K more than a car that is used, has 5K+ miles on it and is 2-3 years old and never has all the things I'd prefer. Here's the car built as I want it, going to the dealer next week to chat with them about making it happen.
Build Code 911 Carrera S
