Three Wheelin'
Lexus has a better looking front.
Volvo has a better looking azz.
I don't know too much about Volvo, but the Lexus ES is my LEAST favorite Lexus model sedan.

The Volvo looks better but I like the styling of both.
I also have an issue with some little old lady mistaking my new ES for hers, though....that's who buys ESs pretty much IMHO.

I like them both style wise...I can promise the Lexus has a better interior. Volvo is probably more fun to drive.
Lexus will hold its value infinitely more than the Volvo.

Both are meh. If I had to buy one, it'll be ES. I like Lexus and dislike Volvo in general.

wait, this is the same guy that has a hard on for Acura and provides
The TLX will be what's hot in 4-6 months. Athletic red to open the doors of Summer.
I fully predicate the TLX to be selling like crazy. I am in a Fraternity and I got at least 20 different guys along with all their friends willing to lease/buy cars within the next year. The vast majority of their price range is from 34k-43k......
I already showed them all the pictures of the TLX and they all loved it. I also told them how bad Audi A4'S are and how their oil leaks and stuff and they all are aware of this now. I told them Q50'S are for old people, and C Class is for people who can't buy E Class.. so don't get that. I told them BMW 3 Series is a great car but that's a common buy for it's segment.. I also stressed the street credit of the 'A'. showed them a bunch of NSX pictures and told them the TLX is for fast people..
My sister is in a sorority and the girls are EVEN EASIER to convince than the guys, I showed all the girls the 'athletic red' and than showed them pictures of the Cadillac ATS. I asked them 'do you want to spend 37,000 dollars on a cool athletic red Acura TLX that screams slickness and beauty' OR do you want to drive your grandma's Cadillac? I also told the girls that Cadillacs are not reliable and I showed them a lot of rankings to prove it. Acura always rank ahead.
Acura haters are going to be crying into their pillows when the TLX completely dominates every car within the 35k-44k Bracket. Soon every car within that bracket is going to have to either go BELOW it or ABOVE it to survive.

I think the Lexus is waaaay better looking but that's me.

The people who say the ES has a nicer interior probably haven't sat in it, especially because the new ES is a step down in quality from the old one (lover part of the interior is hard cheap plastic). The S60 feels a class above the ES on the inside.
S60 also drives better and has the most comfortable seats in the business. It's an underrated car which really is near best in class often overlooked because of the Volvo badge.

Volvo has that same clunky center stack design they've run with for decades now. Never been a fan.
I still say Lexus wins the interior.

Someday, an RS6 Avant+
The Volvo can be had in 325 HP / AWD guise. I drove one and liked it a lot but balked at the price.
And the ES is nothing but a tarted up Toyota Windom (saw too many in Japan). Never liked that model.

And I call BS on saying The ES fit and finish is no good. Sat in all of them at the auto show...where those cars get fondled and see more ass than a horny proctologist...and they were top notch as always.

The new Avalon looks way better and more upscale than the ES in real life.
but it still drives like shit.

I'd probably take the Avalon over either the Volvo or Lexus. The ES interior blows away the Volvo's IMO. The Avalon even still looks better than both inside and out.

The sizzle in the Steak
Don't care for the exteriors on each of them.
Interior-wise, the Lexux....hands down.
Ever since Lexus changed their interior designs to be more "german minimalist" designs, they have been simply fantastic. The former Lexus interior designs were pretty horrible.

I think the Avalon's front bumper/lower grille is more than Lexus' predator/hour glass grille. Everything else exterior-wise looks good on the Avalon.
I also don't think the center stack/dash on the Avalon looks better than the ES's. I prefer the ES's simpler center stack/dash layout. The Avalon's center stack/dash doesn't flow as nicely or is as nicely balanced as the ES's.
You NEVER put navigation screen under vents
