Anyone holding out for the TLX?

Just curious...

The RLX recently piqued my interest...I caught myself on autotrader checking out RLX CPO's, which could be picked up for high $30ks. However, the delay for SH-AWD is forever pending. Also, the SH-AWD is hybrid only, and the pricepoint seems like its going to be in the high 60s new.

That said, the TLX SH-AWD naturally seems really tempting. And will likely be out before the RLX SH-AWD, and will undercut it by +$20k.

Is anyone waiting it out? (Also, will there be a long delay for the SH-AWD version to follow? I.e. will the 4-banges be out first, then v6s, then SH-AWD v6s another year out?)

Thanks.

I'll probably replace my '13 Accord with one. Maybe next summer.

I REALLY want one in white/black V6 SH-AWD

Nope, not even in the slightest. Even if I were in the market for a luxury sedan I probably wouldn't even visit the Acura dealership. Lexus, Hyundai, Audi, etc are all blowing it out of the park right now. Acura isn't even playing the same game.

i dont disagree...but on the flip side, that is precisely what has me interested. DEEP DISCOUNTS = even better value. some cars are a damn firesale, while still having an emblem that is somewhat of decent status to the general public. I mean, the RLX already seems like a decent deal at face value, and they are going for up to 10k under msrp.

Holding out for one? No.

That said, I'd still like to check it out and take it for a test drive just to see what it has (or doesn't have). Maybe it'll surprise me and change my mind.

I would agree for the most part but they aren't selling for a reason and that's because there are cars in the same range that are a lot better for not a whole lot more money. When a manufacturer has to discount by $10k under MSRP to get sales, that's pretty alarming. To me, that either means this car really sucks or there's a new one coming in a few months.

FWIW, I don't care about what badge is on my car as long as I enjoy driving it and it puts a smile on my face.

Edit to add:

Here's a great initial first drive impression:

by status, i mean brand image/presence, which is still somewhat salvageable.

if lexus had a bunch of misteps, and went the way of the acura in a few years from now, and they started selling LS's at 10k off sticker, i'd be interested...

The RLX is missing quite a lot for a car at that price point, I have had a loaner for over a month and put over 6k miles on it. I actually prefer my 2011 TL over it. The ride in the RLX is way to soft and it's a glaring problem every time in drive that car.

Suspension softness is easily fixed and would be the least of my worries to be honest.

Not it's not A glaring problem. It was designed for the demographic it was intended to be sold to. People who want a luxurious ride dare I say luxury car owners.

Want a stiffer suspension? Get a TL/ TLX.

Not that I don't like deep discount on the things, but I don't want a car that nobody wants. There must be a reason why brands have to unload cars with deep discounts.

I don't think TLX will have deep discounts at release. The pricing is already out. It's decently positioned.

Agree. TLs seem to sell like crazy. RLs not so much.

The RL/RLX is a model searching for a segment.

The sticker on my loaner is 62k miles it's a problem that shouldn't exist. That's the main issue, besides you can't see the touch screen if the sun is hitting it. I know tint would help, but the screen is programmed to be that way. The paws also takes some time getting used to and sometimes it feels as if the car is trying to drive itself. The fit and finish is not of a car in that price range either.

No. I think there are more compelling cars at the pricepoint you are looking at. I have been wafling back and forth on an A4, and I am conidering a Lexus IS 350 AWD (priced around $42K w/ Navi).

The new IS350 really is a nice sports sedan! My friend has one with those F sport packages. It looks and drives pretty damn aggressive.

The white one looks SICK!

Obviously you haven't been in one, it's far from luxurious and the thing bottoms out like crazy which you feel through your entire body and at the top end of the suspension travel it jerks so hard you feel like your head is going to snap off. These problems only exist over bumps and dips of course. On a flat road it drives perfectly, to bad all roads aren't flat and smooth. The FWD TL drives much better and handles those problems with far better success. I'm curious to see if the TLX will have more of a TL feel or a RLX feel. Seeing how the style is closely related to the RLX and MDX.

Funny, many reviews say the RLX rides firmly. Personally I think it's just fine the way it is for what it is.

Also the suspension is easily fixed for people that know about the aftermarket world and would go ahead and swap it out. For the older crowd the RLX is aimed for, they majority of them don't want to deal with that or even know anything about it. They will just move onto something else. I'm assuming there's a reason I see so many CPO RLX's out there.
