My friend just bought a white 05 Cherokee, the base V6 model, for $10k. It's a nice car, really smooth ride, and even though he's only had it a couple days he hasn't had any problems.

That is exactly what I am looking for!

Right now the wife and I car pool so we are only looking for something to put 4K miles per year on.

I know gas would be atrocious, but if you're only going 4k a year and are car-pooling....

Find an Overland, I'm sure they are cheap now. Not sure if you can get a v6 OL or not.

There's a member on this forum whos dad runs wjjeeps.com. Check out the info on the newer GC's that you are looking for.

My ex had one, it was really nice except the gas mileage was horrid....might have been the way she drove though.

Yeah my friend's getting something like 14mpg in the city with a light foot. He thinks something's wrong with the car, I keep telling him "no it's a jeep".

OP, be a real man and get the SRT-8! You can find an 06 easily for under $30k.

There is one right next to me for 26K but since it is a true second car don't want to spend any money.

Gas prices can't be any worse then a 1999 rollin on 20s getting 9.8 mpg

I always hate people that bring other cars into the mix, but what are your thoughts on 4runners?

They get decent gas mileage and are BULLET proof.

I hate the look but will look at them tomorrow.

Problem is the 06 SRT8 has 12,000 miles on it with an 68 year old widow only owner. She bought it not knowing it had to much power. She wants something with less power but can't sell it because of gas prices.

AAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAHHHHHHHHHHHHHHH!!!!!!!!!!!!! I want it but just dont want to drop the extra 15K.

right on...I think you'll be surprised by the 4runner.

From the ones I've driven its a pretty sweet ride. I think the newer body style came out in '03. It may not be as plush as a GC but they have several cool features that you may prefer over the jeep.

...and if you have never experienced a Toyota AC, be prepared, and bring a jacket. Those things will give you frost bite!

Are you kidding me? The SRT-8 is faster than an E39 M5 and basically any Cayenne. It's a beast!

I don't know if it's my testosterone talking, but get the SRT-8!!

if you get a jeep be prepared to either have a beater ride or hanging out in the shop a lot.
it makes Hondas/Acuras look build quality look amazing.

only SUV(all they build) company worse than Jeep is Land Rover

If I hadn't bought my A4 two months ago, and I found an SRT8 with less than 20K for $26K, I would have bought that for sure. Who cares about gas mileage on that car!! The SRT8 is sick!!

I had an 05' GC Limited 5.7L Hemi that I sold to my G/F. Apparently they get the same mileage as the SRT8, so wouldn't have been much change for me anyway. Love the Hemi though, lots of power for towing our bike trailer, and really nice inside and out.
