Looking for a new Type S

My elderly dog is struggling with my Jeep Rubicon with 37" tires. I was hoping not to have to sell my Jeep, but I think I may go ahead and sell it and look for a Type S. I've always wanted one and now I can pay cash for it. What should I look for?? Any types of services needed at certain miles?? Any info would be appreciated or direct me to a thread that I can read. Thank you!!

Im also looking for one. Recently bought an 08 TL (which I love ) but should have gone with the S instead. I did not want to spend over $10k at the time on an S, but then I decided it was worth it and I should just do it. Unfortunately I did not act fast enough this past week on 2 vehicles that were for sale, so my search continues. I've been on Craigslist, cars, and Autotrader non stop past few days. lol

Would like to find an 08, Black, Bronze, or Silver. Automatic, or 6-speed if I ever find one

I commend you on being concerned about your dog's well being. I'd do the same for mine

I have found two or three local. A couple silvers, black and a Moroccan red which I really like. I will take a test drive tomorrow and see if the Type S is the car I really can see myself in for next 5 years.

Here's a list of items I made when I went searching for my TL-S;
1) Compliance Bushings - check for broken rubber
2) Noisy power steering hoses - check to service records to see if recall performed
3) Oil Pump Seal - look for a small area of oil residue usually covering a little bit of the oil pan, they do not leak as so much to pour on the ground so just give the oil pan a quick glance
4) Rear Main Seal - this is pretty obvious, you'll most likely see oil on the ground
5) 3rd Gear Syncro - if you're shopping for a 6MT, check to see if 3rd gear is abnormally notchy, grinds or pops out of gear
6) Loud valve tick noise - this could be due to the 5th cylinder spark plug being loose which is an easy fix as you just have tighten it back down

At around 105k miles/170k kilometres there is a timing belt service which is a major service which can cost anywhere from $600-$1200 depending where you get it done.

Hope this helps with your search, good luck

Post up your location. Lots of members actively search for TL's and come across some very nice cars.

I always poke around just to see what's out there.

If you find a local Type S that you like, act on it fast.

I went and test drove a Type S today. It really is a great car. However, I have decided that I will try a harness for my dog before I sell my Jeep. My main concern with something so low and nice is I have to worry about every pot hole or curb. My Jeep can drive over anything and everything is steel so no worries there.

you will have to drive careful in the TL for sure, my buddy had a 2012 Rubicon and as I remember his face when he sat in my TL.
