Anybody ever run into your old car?
As some of you know, I traded in my '03 TL-S on the 2011 Genesis Coupe. This was about 2.5 months ago.
While I like and enjoy the new ride, I always missed my old car. I had no idea what happened to it.
Well, yesterday, my buddy was driving us back from kayaking and while going through historic downtown Wetumpka, I noticed a gleaming silver 2G TL. I was like, "that's a nice lookin... wait, that looks famili... oh, THAT'S MY CAR!"
It still looked great. The new owner put a set of ugly chromes on it but other than that, seemed to be taking care of it.
I regret selling my car... especially now knowing that it's only like 15 minutes away from here.
What's exacerbating the situation is that I don't even have the Coupe right now. It's in the shop and I'm driving a rental.
So have you ever run into your old car? Selling to friend/family doesn't count. How did that feel?

My neighbor's (adult) son bought my Prelude, so I see it now and then when he comes for a holiday.

Somebody posted my 3G TL in the Southern California Sightings thread a couple months after I sold it.
I'll miss her .

Safety Car
the worst is selling a car to a family member that takes poor care of the car. you often see the damage done to your beloved machine, but have to hold your tongue.
had an old school volvo 740 in HS in this nice atlantic blue. sold it to a distant female cousin. that car look liked it took 10 years of abuse within 12 months of selling it. it was unfortunate to see, but what could you say?

The guy that bought my IROC is a manager at my local shopping mall so I see it parked every once in a while. I wish I didn't because he sold the authentic IROC's for smaller chrome knockoffs, the exhaust pipes are misaligned, the tint on the hatch is torn and he put stickers on it

Only happened once. The kid I sold my old MR2 Turbo to showed up one time at the local dragstrip with the car the spring after I sold it. Had a huge racing sticker along the bottom of the windshield and I was like

When I bought my TSX, I gave my old car to my dad ('96 Pearl White Ford Thunderbird LX /w the 4.6L) and in turn he gave it to my younger brother. So, I see it whenever I visit my parents.
I miss the sound and torque of a V8...
I don't know what it is about this car, but I still like it. Sometimes I wish I'd kept it...but eh well. My brother loves it as much as I did, so it's in good hands.

The first car I actually owned (Integra) was all beat up when I bought it, terrible paint and a torn up front bumper. I was poor, only had money saved up from a couple years of working and so it was the best Integra I could get since I wanted one with a clean title and in mechanically good condition.
Ironically, after I sold it the owner fixed it up completely.... shiny new paintjob, same color as the original which was really nice with a new bumper too. Now THAT made me sad.
Getting the car I've wanted since I was a kid a month later helped though

well i'm still on my first car, but my dad sold his 1985? buick century about 15 or so years ago to a local. i occasionally see it driving around town and it brings back old memories. my dad had bought it just before i was born and it was the car i was brought home in and grown up with. i think we sold it with over 200k miles so it astonishes me that the car still drives. probably still on its first tranny and original paint. damn 2g tl

I had a clean little 2000 Cavalier Coupe that I used as a commuter car. The paint was excellent, mechanically sound, and the tires were new. Well, I decided to sell it to my 19 year old cousin. I see him a few months later and the car is thrashed.

I have been keeping an eye out for my CL-S for the last 5+ years but have never seen her. If you see an SSM with cleared & color matched headlights, it was probably mine.

Any idea if there are ways to track down where an old car may have ended up?

Sold my lifted Rodeo a few years ago and saw it stranded on the side of the freeway a year later. They picked it up later that day but it was a sad sight to see!

I've only seen my old Santa Fe once since I sold it but that's because they don't drive it much. I've seen my friend's old Elantra several times and only saw another friend's Focus once. Never saw my old van after we traded it in or dad's 9000...not surprising given their age and mileage so I'm betting they were wholesaled and probably left the state (or even the country). Dad's '04 TL was sold to a former co-worker who drove it back to Mississippi and he traded it in for an Audi about a year or so ago. It lived in Hattiesburg, MS for a while and it may still be there...maybe not.

You have to fill in the blanks yourself but it's fairly easy to track down the car's travels.

Drifting
yes and I cried(literally bawling ), ran into my 91 accord coupe, that I sunk at least $10k into and it was being treated horribly, even added pinstriping when I spent serious coin making the car all arctic white.
also ran into my 75' benz at a body shop, she was ok and saw my 87' regal once on the road, my last car is in the junk yard most likely.

Three Wheelin'
i ran into my old car about 5 months later locally, an '05 MB C230. what really sucks was that i spent $200 for some really nice tints and the dealer ripped it off before they sold it. then several months later, i checked carfax and it was registered in Texas but with a severe accident report. whoever bought it must have had too much fun down there!

I took my '96 Pathfinder SE to the dealership 6 years ago to get new timing belt, H20 pump, oil and tranny service, and replaced some suspension bushings. Just put some BFG All-Terrain KOs on it the day before. Truck ran like brand new and and 2 hours after leaving the dealership, I rear-end a chick in a Chevy pickup truck. Her head hit the headrest so hard, it broke the pane out of the sliding glass window behind her. I must've been doing at least 35 and I didn't have a chance to even put my foot on the brake (fiddling with the radio like a dumb-ass). Brush guard prevented my airbags from going off. Insurance guy says the front underframe/unibody is bent and that's an automatic total since the truck had 175K miles on it.
Jump ahead 4 months later and what do I see cruising down I-20 next to me? Someone else enjoying my BFG All-Terrains. Truck didn't even look like it was in an accident. I kick myself for not keeping that truck and fixing it myself...

Sure do...and still the only CL-S in town with the Versus kit.
I do miss it, believe it or not.

I have seen two of my old cars after I sold them. The last was the CL. I got rid of it at carmax. Then it popped up on here because someone was asking if they should buy it and then I saw it about 3 months ago on the other side of town. Different rims, but it still looked good..

I had a 94 with the V8 and I still miss it to this day. Ended up selling it to my step sister whom I rarely see but I bought my TL and didn't have a need or room for the T-bird so she bought it. Several months later I found out that her idiot husband drove drunk and wrecked it. I know it wasn't my car anymore but I was fucking furious when I found out.

A few years back I was up at the dealer and I saw my old CL parked in the service entrance. The same wheels were on it but my D/S rotors werent. I was walking around it lookin at it and the owner approached me. I said "is this yours?" He said "yeah, I just got a check engine light and the tranny is acting up" I said "bummer" then quickly walked away.

I've seen a few of ours a couple times. I'm always glad to see them running, but with older cars you are afraid to ask if you see them in person.
I got a call from the new home of my old boxster the other day. He ws asking how to get the hood open since the battery went dead from not charging it over the winter, even though i gave him the trickle charger.
He's enjoying the car and he and his wife are really nice people.
