Any forum like this one for the Honda Pilot?

Is there any forum like this one for the Honda Pilot? I am looking to buy one later this year, but I figure it would be a good idea to check out the forum first.

I have the Pilot and i do love it for what it does, but I would look into a year old MDX that comes certified with a 100k warranty included and has a shitload of more luxury for a similar price. Then again, if you got a wife that is gonna ding it up and kids that spill juice everywhere, the pilot is a good choice.
http://www.hondasuv.com/
is another forum, but none of them feature any traffic like acurazine.

Thanks!

Thanks all for the input. Yup, the pilot will be for my wife and kids (one 2 year old, and another one that will join us any minute now)... so i figure too much luxury (MDX) may not be the way to go just yet. Thanks again!

my sister got a fully loaded pilot (navi/leather/etc). She liked it better then the mdx and thought it was a little bit more roomy inside.

I used HondaPilot.org for Pilot related information but it appears to be dead now. Our Pilot has been very reliable for 5 years but now I have an issue with it that I wanted to check on.

I did a google search for a new forum and there are slim pickings and a high cheese factor as well. Anyone have any new sites that they would want to recommend? It would be great if there was a Hondazine.com.

I just checked out my cousin's 08 Pilot EX-L earlier today. Although it lacks the handling and higher RPM punch of my 09 MDX, I think it's a terrific crossover.

BTW: Synth, It felt more spacious inside than the MDX. But I would opt for Rondog's suggestion and locate a used 07-08 MDX (earlier current gen) if possible.

yea old thread but a goof bump. I am looking into getting an SUV most probably seeing as it's winter 7 months out of the year and my lowered TL 3G is not cutting it. Pilot is one of my choices. Looking into 05-06 pilots, maybe 07s. I don't really like older MDXs and 07-up are still over $30K with over 60k miles (100km).
ALso been looking for a forum but can't seem to find anything good. I wanna know about reliability and such.

Five years ago, or today, I think you'd be VERY hard-pressed to find any forum with the amount of traffic, humor, and experience that AcuraZine offers.

Old thread or no, The answers are almost the same. There is no forum quite like this one. Hondapilot.org had to change its name because of legal pressure from Honda. It is now called piloteers.org .

We will have had our loaded Pilot for four years this month and the wife still loves it. I gave her the option of an MDX at the time but she preferred the Pilot. As Ron said above, given her proclivity to scratching and dinging cars, the Pilot was probably the better choice for her anyway. It's also our road trip car now as it gets better freeway mileage than the V.

I was seriously considering a Pilot a few months ago.

After driving the new generation, I don't want the 06-07 anymore and I don't want to spend that much money.

I can't believe how much room the 08 has!

Our 2003 Pilot we've had new since mid 2002 with no major problems. The few small problems have been window motor went bad, driver's power lock actuator, right headlight small leak (fogs up), and just recently the rear headphone jack outputs buzz (rest of entertainment system OK). For 8+ years and 175K miles that's pretty good.

Overall it's been a great SUV, very versatile, easy to drive, reasonable in the snow, and can haul 8 for short distances (3rd row is for children realistically).

As someone already noted the non-sunroof Pilots have ALOT of headroom, and the 3rd row of seats has 3 seatbelts were as the MDX's have 2. The MDX with it's sloped rear has less storage room, esspecially when the last row of sets is being used.

Thanks Neuron! I figured someone knew what happened. We have a similar situation as you and my Wife is hell on vehicles. The Pilot is a great suv but we have a steering wheel shake at 70mph now. My Wife fessed up and said she hit a curb so it's probably out of alignment and the wheel may need a rebalance. Now she wants to drive my TL while I fix the Pilot tomorrow- nothing doing! I'll drive her to work instead.

Not sure why you need a Pilot forum. They are built on the same line with mostly the same parts as the MDX. Most differences are slight and cosmetic. Usually the Pilot gets slightly higher marks for more interior space and slightly lower cost. Ownership experience should be virtually the same. Our 2002 MDX has been about bullet proof.

LOL!
No widespread tranny problems on the 1G Pilot that I'm aware of. We've got 34k miles on ours and really no big issues yet.

01-03 transmission rated worse than average by Consumer Reports. We have 50k on ours, no problems so-far.

Did you mean 02-03? MDX's model year started in 2002, Pilot in 2003.

Oh, we have 175K miles on a 2003 Pilot, no problems.

First year for the MDX was 2001, easy to check.

After the sunroof became available for the Pilot it became mostly which look you like. I waited for the 2003 Pilot then didn't like available features. I also wanted a console mounted shifter. That plus the price was so close with Honda additional dealer mark-up. MDX also had better warranty new. Hard to go wrong with either one.

I've driven both and the Pilot is much bigger than the Xterra. That's all I can say about the two

This is CarTalk so we seem to talk about all types of cars here so you have a legitimate question.

I have a Pilot so can make a few comments. I guess it depends on what your priorities are because a Pilot and Xterra on different ends of the spectrum.

Pilot: good features, 8 passenger, good storage, decent towing, decent ride, fire road to mild off road (we do quite a bit of off-roading and it has not let us down yet), better MPG

Xterra: better offroad capability (4wheel low/high), better towing, 5 passenger, less amenities, less storage, less price.

We bought the Pilot and it serves us well for a family of 4. We often have the one 3rd row back seat up when someone rides with us so that feature alone was worth it for us to not go the Minivan route. After 5 years, it has been a great vehicle.
