Amazing Barn Find!
My friend just picked this beautiful girl up from Dallas, Texas.
Everything is Original.
Older gentleman used it to scoot to school, as per the Dallas college parking stickers.
The license plates still on the car is from 92-93, which means it sat for at least 22 years!
pretty low mileage at I believe 30k miles, I want to say. I dont remember what my friend said
Thanks for looking!

GNX is rare limited production, less than 1000.. probably closer to 500. The suspension is refined, fender flares, badging, bigger ceramic turbo, limited edition wheels, etc.
It's wanted for it's rarity more than anything.. but right down to it, they're the same (don't say that to a GNX owner).

GN's with minor top end mods can blow the doors off any current production car. Ask IHC..

I've been browsing craigslist for the past 30 minutes trying to "find" a gem. Got a great deal on a Geo Metro.. primo condition.

Had one of those as a rental car once when I was moving to Utah for grad school. My wife and I were apartment hunting. I though I was going to have to push that thing up a few of the hills near BYU. Just an awful piece of automotive engineering.

Hey Justn, you should submit some pics with the story to car ezines. I think it's worthy of publishing as a user submission. Especially the before and after shots. I know car craft, jalopnik, etc would probably run it. Would up the resale val..

To answer some questions;
Yes, he is trying to flip it. Its a 1987 grand national.
Yes, I will submit pictures and the story to carzines.
Yes, it's my buddy who has an 86 Monte Carlo ss.
He also has a 2006 gto.
While getting the gto tuned, the tuner told him about this gem.

Very cool!
Did he have to do anything to get it in good mechanical shape after sitting that long?

One thing about these cars is while the GNX out handled the Vette, the regular GNs drive so nice. Just a very nice car to take a weekend cruise in.

In honor of this car, I'm taking the cover off the V wagon and going for a drive today. (I've been dailying my S2000 for a few weeks.). I am hoping my car never gets that dusty.

Some more goodies
Since the gas tank had been sitting for so long I replaced it with an OEM quality replacement, as well as a new sending unit, fuel pump, and fuel filter. Then I had the injectors professionally flushed and flow tested. Also put in a new set of plugs and wires, and wow, she fired up like a brand new car! Changed all the fluids, installed a new serpentine belt, new battery, and this car is ready to go wherever, whenever. Still has the original exhaust too and it's not rusted out!! The oil pan gasket does drip a little oil, but for a car that sat for 20+ years, suppose that's to be expected.
I found some hidden treasures while cleaning it... The original window sticker was folded up in the glovebox. I went and had it laminated to preserve it. Also found the original temporary tag, warranty booklet, a Buick issued radio station directory (reminding us that Buick is awesome), GM maintenance schedule, and the owners manual. Oh and I have 2 sets of wheels for the car. I bought a spare set with new rubber, because I didn't want to remove the original tires from the original wheels... So one set is for show, one set is for go.

That visor sticker with the fuel and oil recommendations goes for a small fortune, take care if it. If there's anything I can do to help let me know. I know more than I ever wanted to know about these cars.
Oh, and the oil pan gasket drip is probably a rear main leak. These cars used a rope seal which most got rid of in the 1950s. Some of these cars leaked on the dealer showroom. The good part is that driving them more often can sometimes slow or stop the leak.
