Amazing Barn Find!
not worried about any one stealing the pics.
I know where the car is. some one possibly cant pass this off as their work or their car.
plus, my buddy made me dl lightroom on to his mac. so i could edit them right then and there.

Hmmm...I don't really add the watermark for that...I just like how it looks so official.
In a way, I almost wish he was someone that found the car and was cleaning it up to keep it and enjoy himself. There's something lost with finding it to flip for profit...in my opinion, at least.

Me too...but that's where it would have to be, a barn. A car like this parked on the street would likely be sun baked and/or sold long ago to some curious passers by.

Last paragraph explains it
I forgot the GNX's were produced/upgraded by McLaren/ASC for Buick

Differences in GN and GNX? Ceramic turbine wheel for quicker spool. Intercooler has a higher fin count. Larger elbow on the intercooler inlet. Different PROM programming for a little more boost. The entire instrument cluster with Stewart Warner gauges including an actual boost gauge instead of the knight rider LEDs and a 160mph speedo. I should mention here the top speed governor was raised from 124mph to 148-ish via the PROM.
The rear suspension was redone to match an F-body setup with a torque arm and panhard rod. The lower rear control arms were retained from the GN. 245/xx/16 tires vs 215/65/15. It ran the slalom and skid pad quicker than the Vette and annihilated it in a straight line. I only wish they had done something with the 10.8" brakes but it was the '80s after all. I've posted the video shot by GM engineers when they decided to drop in on Chevy doing testing on the twin turbo Calloway Vette with a GNX back in '87.
There's the dash plaque with each one having a unique number, functional fender vents, fender flares, and no Buick emblem on the grill along with the GNX emblems.
It only takes raising the boost to get a stock GN to run GNX times but they really have people the whole package, what the GN should have been.
For what it's worth every GN got the Regal handling package standard which included a larger front swaybar, a rear swaybar, stiffer springs and shocks,'and a quicker steering ratio which really helps when it's sliding.
I have video of the GNX drivability testing where it was outfitted with sensors EVERYWHERE cataloging everything you can imagine in many different climate extremes across the country for the GNX PROM drivability testing. They followed it in a T-Type outfitted with computer gear that received data from the GNX. Originally they were going to upgrade internals for the additional 70-100hp not knowing that it would take double the power no problem.
The '89 TTA got the 1,550 left over GNX engines that had no car to go in after the RWD platform was killed. They ended up having to go with the 3.0L heads from a FWD Buick because it was too wide to fit in the TA. The Buick V6 is wider than a traditional SBC. It used lower compression pistons since the 3.0 head chambers were smaller to keep compression at 8:1. The stock casting crank was also crossdrilled as this engine had a better chance of seeing extended runs. I've got video of a factory stock TTA on stock tires with stock boost and even the stock air filter killing lightly modded LS1 TAs. I drove one of them to several victories along with a chick that owned one. Don't let anyone try to change history, I was there when they were new , the TTA was quicker than the LS1 cars 10 out of 10 times.
That's all I can think of off the top if my head being half asleep and I'm not typing anymore from my phone lol.

Cool shit man!
thanks a bunch!
My fathers immaculate GN was found in a barn too. The owner lived in Texas, the car was here in a barn. I guess it had under 10,000 miles all the way up to a year before when he went through a divorce. The loan was in her name so she made it her daily driver for a year, parking it in mall parking lots and driving it in the rain. He said it had never seen rain in its life before that. The car had a total of 22,000 miles on it when we got it. The guy had stripped it down and had it repainted with a show car paint job. In fact, it took a first and a second for best paint at car shows. This was when it was just a few years old and low miles.
When my father got it, he got it knowing the paint might be no good. It was so covered in dirt and mud from water dripping on it you couldn't tell what kind of shape it was in besides the body was straight. The inside looked factory new and it had the digital dash and Lear Siegler leather interior with seats that actually hold you in.
So he got it. What a surprise when we washed it. It was so much better than anything that ever came out of GM. The first washing was hectic, trying to figure out how to clean it without scratching it. It had a 100 shot of nitrous, a " prom pack" that held different chips with a key required to switch between chips. One was a low timing chip for nitrous, one for race gas , two street chips and a valet chip that set the Revlimiter at 2,500 rpm and top speed to 30mph. I can't believe I remember that from '94 when I was 17 but I remember every detail like it was yesterday. Price was $7,500 which is what the paint cost.
For what it's worth I got my GN first. My dad had never heard of one and when I told him about it he said it would never compare to any V8 that he grew up with in the '60s. One day by chance when his car had a dead battery he drove my car the 45 miles to work. I remember when he got home he said it felt like it had a rocket strapped to the back. He also said it drew a crowd at work and people were asking him about it all day. It took 2 weeks before he had one too and he made fun of the V8s he had recently defended.
It was set up for road racing and lowered a bit. That all came out for stock suspension for drag racing. Everything including the rear differential had a temp probe. EGT, charge air, trans, oil, etc. It now packs 1,200hp and hasn't been driven or even had the cover taken off in 10 years but back in the '90s we terrorized the streets with it when it went 9.90s and mine went 10.70s which took care of every street car it ever came into contact with.
These cars brought me and my father together if just temporarily when we went racing plus it has the memories of my highschool years and just about every major event a person experiences, even my highschool reunion even though I had a brand new TL at the time. That's why I'll probably have it till I die.

I'm in love with that story...
You know how to build a fast car and know how to keep the reader engaged when telling a story. I feel like I could actually interpret your own sentiments...awesome.
I'd love one of these...I've always thought they were the best of both worlds, comfy hooptie that would blow the doors off other people. I need one.

I must just be an idiot. How could I possibly think that those two cars look even remotely close from memory of a movie? Their G-body platforms are COMPLETELY different.

I really should be ashamed I'm not proficient in the amazing decade that GM had in the late '70s and '80s.
