Am I crazy for considering this?

When I purchased my 07 TL, I had actually went out looking to buy a truck. Once I got to the dealer, I soon found that a truck loaded the way I wanted it was out of my price range. I was able to wheel and deal at get the TL for much less since I had purchased a TL from the dealer before. Now fast forward to the present, I stopped by a Ford dealer the other day and was looking over a 2008 Ford F-150 FX4 SuperCrew. The truck is fully loaded minus Nav (which can be had for less than what they charge anyway), it has sunroof, leather seats, and power everything. Ford is currently running a $7500 rebate plus I get a discount for working for Verizon, I would basically get getting a 41K truck for around 29K before taxes and tags. I want a truck based on my job as a Verizon tech, some days when I get in my car after work I feel like I beating up a "pretty car". What do you guys think? Should I just stick with the TL or should I jump ship?

well, if you need a truck for work then get a little beater truck that you can just pay cash for then you can keep your TL!

Just want to give you some heads-up, but GM and Ford received losses. My friend bought a $44k truck (New, Fully Loaded) from GM for $20k because their desperate for a sale. If you want to save more money I would hustle the dealership.

from a financial stand point, bad decision

but if you can haggle the dealer down from the ~29k price range down to mid 20, it would make sense

I'm not a truck person but the new F-150s are pretty nice... Sounds like you have every reason to get a truck and why not support the American economy while you're at it?

Just remember that even though gas is under $2.00 a gallon now, it will eventually be back to over $4.00 a gallon. IMO it will be sooner rather than later.

I would keep the TL and find a good deal on a beater work truck, which should not bee hard to do with such good deals on brand new large trucks.

Downgrade in every area except off road and snowy conditions. Highter gas and maintence costs as well. Get a Honda Ridgeline.

I think it's best if your using it for work, just buy a beater or gently used "boss" truck for 8-10k

How would you not be 'beating up' the pretty new truck with leather and power everything just like your TL?

i like the idea of getting a beater( if you can afford both), but they are grreat trucks if you decide to get it. My old man has an '01 supercrew and he just passed 185k, with no major problems yet(knock on wood)

Can't imagine spending good money on a truck unless you really need it for business. You're hauling lots of weight and paying for lots of gas (which is less expensive only for the moment).

exactly what i was thinking

or you could just raise up your TL, and turn it into a truck that is fully loaded and has "car like handling", the ford doesn't have that

Trucks are pointless, if you're concerned about beating up a pretty car then get a Pontiac Aztec, I'm sure you wouldn't have a problem beating that thing up.

the new tundra is tits, but I also like the new F-series. They can be just as nice inside as your TL.

That said, used trucks can be had for a STEAL these days as well.
