to all of that purchased a new car..
Guess some cars just tank off the lot. Thats insane. Thats another pet peeve of mine, the "100k mile warranty"
Factory warranty is typically 4yr/50k.. which ever comes first. My situation I will hit the 4 year mark before i get close to 50k miles.
Now if i get an extended warranty it would be "6 year/100k miles" but technically you paying for 2 years / 50k mile since the extended doesnt kick in till factory warranty is over.
Who here will hit 100k miles within 6 years? Doubt many. So really you just paying for 2 years of extra warranty.

Not sure how all of the manufacturers work though. I think some just extend the miles which, like you said, won't help many people...

I more than likely will hit 100k miles in 6 years. I actually think I will do it in 5 years probably. My monthly commute miles are 1240miles. So that comes out to 14880 a year. I go home to visit at least once every two months which is 900 round trip. I am sure that might decrease over time but I make other trips as well. You must live really close to work if you won't make even 50k in 4 years.
Always New.
Rather buy new and make the car mine over time, then it lasts longer and normally comes from the factory with a warranty (excluding some mods).
Most people that say they saved up and bought new brought to the table a large down payment which makes your monthly payment lower. Just an observation.

Hey, that "other" topic was started a while ago. I didn't start a new one without pics... I just updated it! Different rules apply there
.
Good news is I have some time off starting tomorrow, and internet should be installed by the weekend... so I can get some stuff up

We purchased my FJ in fall of 2006 and I have yet to hit 50k (although I think it will happen any day now). Granted for 2.5 years or so it was mainly local driving b/c of the businesses, but even now my commute is small b/c I just drive to the train station and hop the light rail to uptown.
I would take the light rail if they would build the stupid thing up to Mooresville or Huntersville. I am not really the fan of taking the bus though. I would either haver to get up much earlier or start later and have to work later which both seem like they would suck. Would probably save like 2-3k in gas though a year.

Yeah, they need to extend it further north and further south. For now I just drive to the I-485/South Blvd station and take the train from there. With my schedule the commute time is about the same... give or a take a few minutes either way... but the train is MUCH cheaper then parking. Plus, it's great to just pop on my headphones and read. Going I kind of wake up and get ready for work, coming back I unwind... so it works out. But yeah, would be much better if it was closer. Still I am saving money on gas and wear & tear...
Agreed... that's the other reason we like CPO. Typically they give you an extra year or two (Audi gave us 2 years/100k AND scheduled maintenance to 75k, which was nice), plus extend the warranty to 100k... and we don't have to buy an extended warranty.

Im confused on that part. So they gave you the 2 year /100k CPO warranty and just gave you an unlimited year, 100k miles warranty as well? Was it free?
I couldnt find audi offering that anywhere on the web.

No wonder gas mileage is a concern for you. You drive a lot! Thats around 20k miles a year! I live only 10 miles from the office and most of the time i work from home or im traveling out of the country. I traveled so much this past year that my car only has 11k miles since I got it in June 09.
It's "free" in the sense that it comes standard on a CPO car. However, a CPO car is generally +/- $2k more than a non-CPO car of the same vintage and condition, so mostly what you are paying for is that warranty.
