ACURA repairs Ludacris's ACURA

Came across this article this morning. Pretty cool PR stunt by ACURA. Hopefully they throw some goodies in there for him, you know like a RWD platform with a V-8

He mentioned in an interview that the Legend was his favorite car. Nice to see that he still held on to it, despite the fact that makes enough money to buy any car out there.

I remember years ago when I had one (it was my first car and started my love of all things acura) we used to discuss celebrities that had them. At the time ludacris had an episode of MTV cribs where he showed off his legend, complete with jumper cables in the backseat and everything.

Hes got an ongoing relationship with Acura, and I believe he currently has an MDX; he posted a picture on instagram of it a while back. And like the article showed, he put a legend on his latest album cover.

Very cool of Acura for doing this. They've done a lot for fans of the Legend, including Tyson Hugie's Legend Coupe 6MT when it rolled over to 500k. Google it if you havent, its another cool story.

Haha, yes! Thanks for the mention. Still have that Legend (it passed emissions yesterday at 538,835 miles). And I will be driving it to Vegas to attend the SEMA reveal of Ludacris' restored car the first week of November. Agree it's pretty cool of Acura to get involved.

The car will undergo repairs at the Acura Design studio in L.A., and a few modern embellishments will be added by Acura’s global creative director, Dave Marek.
Sigh... Acura will put a beak on it.

in the 90's the Legend was the cream of the crop... that just goes to show how Honda/Acura was able to make a car ahead of it's time... are you listening Acura???

Fixed up nice!

I hate that they compared it to the new 2016 ILX though.. If given the choice between the two, I'd take that Legend over that ILX any day of the week..

Yup, i found that to be pretty weird also. Why not RLX or TLX? IMO it fits either of those much better. After all, the Legend was the "big body" flagship. Then there was the vigor and integra. SO why compare it to the equivalent of the integra? Weird.

But It was done up nice. I was surprised he kept it the gold color, which is my least favorite in that car. And the wheels are a little out of place considering the rest of the car is basically stock. It looks awesome though.

Makes me miss my old legend. Anxious to see Tyson (4Cruizn)'s pics and updates!

The car color is nice. That was the classiest color to get back in the day- no point making the car something that it isn't (aka modern).

The wheels, though, are ugly as shit. They just don't suit the legend at all.

Acura is so lost these days, they were even able to screw up even their original flagship sedan. Sigh...

Looks like they just gave it a new paint job with some rims and sound system. Not impressed at all. This is the best the Acura engineers could come up with. The rims ugly as fuck. The car doesn't even sit right....fail

I had a legend in both black and gold. IMO white, black, or DMM like Tyson's are the best colors. Gold?

I love it that the restored that Legend. That is simply really, really cool.

I understand they are trying to push their modded ILX for SEMA, and that the ILX is probably more the average SEMA attendee's speed.

But man, they could have used this particular video as an opportunity to compare their old flagship to their new flagship. I don't say that because I have one--I don't care about that at all--it just seems a lost opportunity to me.

Still cool, nevertheless, and I'm happy for Luda and his precious.

Yeah, they should of just used some stock wheels. I think they missed the point, just to make theirs.

LOL @ the ILX having exhaust tips....

If they believe in no exhaust tips then why add it?

it is cool that Acura got involved. But i expected more. See if they wanna go aftermarket, then go aftermarket. If they want to restore it, then restore it to show room condition.

They did a half ass job on both.

Luda kept the stock wheels all these years when he could have easily put some 22s on it. But he did not.... instead Acura put some Tuner 18" ....

Exactly, obviously luda kept them on the car this long beacuse he liked them. He could easily have replaced them at any time.

I think all the car needs really is some tint and the stock wheels. If they wanted to upgrade the rims, should have gone with the OEM Legend GS rims. Those were like havin Type-S wheels back in the day

I think they did a nice job given what they had to work with. Remember this car was salvaged in June due to an accident. From an insurance perspective it wasn't even worth putting back on the road, but Acura did that and then some. If you saw the paint job in person it really is quite phenomenal.

They saved a Legend, for a legend. That gets a nod in my book.

I just wish they kept the stock wheels...refurnish them and make them look new.

Actually i would want them to leave the exterior completely stock with a new paint and retro fit the entire RLX's interior. Now that is OEM and one of a kind.

If they really wanted to give it a modern twist, Acura should have put on some OEM wheels from say a TLX or TL and then retrofitted the navigation system from one of those. I get that this is SEMA and all, but throwing on some Rays and an alpine system really doesn't do them any favors, anyone could have done that. They need to act more like a luxury brand and put the ricey Integra stuff in the past imo.

Also, why does that Dave Marek guy still have a job? I despise him and his whole plenum crap so much. What an idiot.
