Acura Integra Starting Problem
Acura Integra Starting Problem
I have a 92 Integra which has starting issues. It seems to be a hot weather problem. (the won't start at gas station or after short stops) I have replaced distributor, fuel filter, the relay thingy on the distributor. Tested fuel pressure and it's good. I am thinking that it may be the main relay. I tried the "banging on the dashboard" thing to try to start it and it tries but won't quite start. The weird thing is that witht the key off, when I bang on the dash the tach moves up and down a bit. Should I try replacing the main relay or does anyone have any other ideas to try? Would it help to leave doors open to cool it down and then try to start it? Many thanks, would rather not have to bother my son again.

Yup, replace the main PGM FI relay. I had that problem in my 91 Integra.
Also the tach jumped on mine as well when I banged on the dash. Totally normal.

Ok so we replaced the main relay and it starts like a dream. However now it is running rough during acceleration and the tach is jumpy when it goes rough. Could it be the ignitor or ignition module? I've done the dist. cap, coil, fuel filter etc. etc.
Any help would be appreciated...

As it turns out I am not smarter than a fifth grader....I bought the ignition module today and when I popped the hood I discovered that all of my bolts on my distributor cap were extremely loose. After tightening them she runs awesome again!! I then went back to my local Lordco store with my tail between my legs and admitted that I should be a blonde...
