Something is VERY VERY wrong with the Z06..........multiple magazines have recorded high 7 to low 8 second 0-100 times for the Vette.......10 seconds is not right.
That said, the GT2 is a beast and I wouldn't be surprised if they dyno around 490 rwhp. But it will be interesting to see some better comparisons when they get a Z06 that's driven/running right.
That said........anyone would be a fool to pick the Z06 over the GT2 if they had an option of one or the other

I agree with CLpower. Something has to be wrong with that Z06.
Not to mention ive seen that Dolt review other American made cars and quite frankly i think hes an idiot.

for the 10 sec to 100 in the Z06 I believe they were talking about the run where he missed 3rd ("what was the 100 on the first one" "10 so you can probably take 6/10ths off of that"). And, keep in mind Porsche's number for the GT2 at the Ring is 7:32. It is one fast mutha. It ran 11.4 @ 128 according to MT. But still, I do think that Z06 was not running optimally.. esp the head-to-head race. Should have been a bit closer.

Anyone that chooses the Z06 over the Porsche has not driven a new generation 911 (997). I have, I was a Porsche Parts Manager and drove them all, with the exception of the Carrera GT. I don't care how fast the Z06 is, it will never be the driving experience of the Porsche.

Just get behind the wheel of a 911 (any 997) and get on a wide open runway and close your eyes, the amount you can "see" with your hands is unreal, and only beated by some exotics and of course something with Lotus on the boot (or in the case of the M/R cars bonnet).
The GT2 is a MONSTER and unlike most "exotics" extra power is easy and relatively cheap.

I found it strange that you said the Porshes look feminine NOW with the as you call it Beetle eyes, then I noticed your age and realize your car days have been in the 996 era. The 996 era's headlights were universally scorned by the Porsche cognescenti and the return of the classic look headlamps with the 997 was considered to be making the earth turn in the correct direction again.
I certainly get the "my own money" buys the Z06 (though I'm thinking GT-R in the range) but dollars be damned and I can't for the life of me see taking the Vette unless I was a died in the wool Vette fan boy. The Z06 is in the ballpark for performance (in a straight line) but from that point it just doesn't cut the mustard, except if the exterior of the GT2 are that abhorent to someone.
The Vette is a phenom, a tad better than the GT3 time wise and at least in the ballpark of a GT2 for C2 money, but if the wallet is fat enough then GT2 it should be, as they say "If you can you must".

I totally agree.

Admittedly I am a P-car fan, but there is no reason the GT2 walked all over the Z06 like that, I'm sure it may be the faster car, but it was much faster then I was expecting.

^ Actually they couldn't make the 911 GT2 go as fast as Porsche claimed it would do. The Z06 on the other hand simply had some problem, or at least that's what they thought. I think it would be a closer race too if the Z06 was in good condition, but nevertheless it would still lose that the GT2.

For the performance per $$ ratio, you can't beat the Z06 or GT-R. Of course, you get what you pay for regarding interior quality, exterior quality and badge stature, but their performance to dollar ratio is amazing.
Regarding the 3.6L versus 7.0L, the Z06 actually gets identical city and better fuel economy. Yes, the 3.6L produces a bit more HP and Torque, but it's FI. If you want more power from a Vette with FI and still be about half as expensive as the GT2, get a ZR1 with ~100hp more than the GT2.
Overall, they are both fantastic cars, but in no way really competitors due to the price differential. I find the GT3 closer to the Z06 personally as it's more raw and bare bones and closer in price.

I'd much rather have a 430 or Gallardo for that amount.

I also agree in general as stated before the performance/$$ ratio is excellent with the Nissan and the Chevy but I would argue the performance vs price ratio begins to head right toward diminishing returns in a new car just past a Chevy Aveo...
As for the engine issue fuel economy is a absolute non-issue at this end of the spectrum and my point was more like who cars how you get 500hp as long as you get it (except if it sounds like a flat plane cranked N/A V8 ala Ferrari you get mad rep points). As for the ZR-1 I couldn't drive it when I knew what it looked like outside and seeing that rediculous hood window that has to be the biggest failed homage to a M/R Ferrari.
As for your final statement if you replace GT3RS the statement is more accurate. The GT2 and 3 are about the same level of bare in the 997 and I think the raw statement is way outta line, one of the quickest ways to experience raw is throw over 500 HP and great torque to the rear wheels of an ass engined car and light the fuse... the GT2 doesn't have the traditional nickname "widow maker" for no reason!

The many C2, C2S, C4 and C4S 911's I've passed on the road course in my CADILLAC don't seem to think the driving experience is all that great. Now, imagine how they feel when a ZO6 rips them a new one and also takes on the Turbos.

seriously, the stats on the 2 cars are so similar.. there's no way that the Z06 could lose that badly

^ The video mentioned that there's probably something wrong with the Z06. With that said, the 911 Turbo is as fast as a Z06, while the GT2 has 40 more hp, and ~200kg less weight than a normal 911 Turbo.

Honestly I'd rather take a GT3 over either of them, or at least a GT2 with a GT3 front/rear end conversion. The GT2 is ugly looking with that huge double-decker wing and gills on the rear bumper. The front end isn't ugly but it isn't exactly beautiful either. The C6, even in Z06 form has what someone called "afterthought headlights" and I kinda agree. GT3 is the best looking with the Z06 in 2nd and the GT2 last.
That said, in terms of what I'd really want its GT2>GT3>Z06... simply don't see any other way around it
The GT-R is dead last in this sort of company.... takes the cake for ugliest car in its price segment, and then some, and I'd rather row gears anyday than just step on it and go. If I drove the GT-R on the track 100% of the time I'd be silly not to choose it for its ease of driving, but frankly if I were in a front-end crash it would probably end up looking better afterwards than before.
