'86 Regal T Type is home at last.

Just pulled in the driveway a few hours ago. The car is filthy, but here she is. Fresh paint, newly rebuilt motor and the shift kit installed. Better photos to come. I'm too exhausted to wash it.

They're a blast to drive. V8 sound at low RPM with great mid range and top end power. I drove for about 45 minutes tonight. The shift kit makes it feel like a whole new car. The 1-2 shift results in a loud squeal from the tires and rear end gets a little squirrely. Good fun.

Whoa, a year apart?

Must feel pretty nice for it to be back home again. Certainly looks pretty damn good.

Noob question: What does the T-Type denote? A T-Top, or the motor?

Wait, so you get it back right at the end ofthe driving season? It's going to be torture for you to watch that car sit until spring, no?

Looking good, though!

Terry

Believe it or not, there is a slight ding in the drivers side door. The new rubber protector caught most of it which left a nice scuff mark. It must have happened at the body shop. I just wanted to have the car back. I'll have someone else take a look at it and hopefully it can be rubbed out.

Thanks, I actually bought it from a guy in South Carolina a few years ago. Although it spent the last couple years in southwestern PA.

Going to spend most of the day detailing it.

T Type was Buick's performance model throughout most of the 80's. There was also a Century and LeSabre T Type offered during that time. The Regal T Type had the 3.8 Turbo from 84-86. It had sport tuned suspension and steering as well as some other performance upgrades. In '87 They dropped the T Type name for a T package. It was available with an Olds 307 as well as the more popular turbo V6. To capitalize on the GN's success, Buick released a Turbo T model. It was made to look like the GN without the GN badging and wheels. I believe it was the only other turbo Regal offered with painted bumpers.

Terry and IHC probably know more about it that I do.

I know... bummer. We don't get much more than a few inches of snow here. I'll try to drive it as much as I can. There's a ton of wax build up and dust in all the tight corners that needs cleaned up. The motor is a bit dirty too. I have time to get it polished up for next year.

Thanks, the garage was my project this year. It's come out really well.

I think I will although it's not technically legal to drive at the moment. The CL has a bad CKP sensor so it probably won't make the trip anyways.
