Got it. I'll take a look at them.
Just thought I should at least get these to free up some easy power. Super cheap.

Just a thought. Is it possible to do a conversion on my car to run 5x114 bolt pattern?
#284
Megan does have them i production.
It has also been mentioned that Bulletproof has some.

Looks like a very tedious and costly stuff. I'll just pass on it. haha
I kinda wanted to put on my Advans. It would look so good.
Anyway, one more question! Is it pretty easy to ship out a set of rims?
This guy is very interested in my wheels, but he's in Ohio and wants to get a shipping cost for it. I've never shipped out a set of wheels.

225/50/16 on a 16x8 et30. Enkei only offers that size in silver so I had to plastidip them. I would have got them in bronze/gunmetal if they offered either in 16x8.
My original plan was to get 15's but the street tire options suck. I like the beefy tire look, plus it helps with potholes around here.

Just assumed you guys know my real name. It's Jin Shin.
I rented the helmet at the track. It was only 10 bucks. I brought a head sock but didn't need to use it. The helmet was clean. I went with open face one. I'll probably rent couple more times and buy one in the summer.
I'm officially hooked. Can't believe I didn't track til now.
I have always considered myself as a very spirited driver, but the tracking is on another level for sure. It's so AWESOME.
That feeling of flooring in 3rd gear through short turns.... HARD breaking from 105mph to 30mph into skidpad turn.... it's just insane....
I will go into more detail tomorrow, but the bottom line is that if you like cars and haven't taken your car to tracks, do it.
You are missing out.
Spend $100 and just go do it. You don't need any mods to go.

niceeee. I think the car is going to feel so much more AWESOME with the lightweight rim + stickier tires.
Please do it! Your car will be fun to drive on the track for sure.
I really think it was like the best $100 spend on my car in my life.
Thanks man.
Just used my work Fedex account to get the quote. $120. Nice.
Hopefully the buyer bites. He saw my posting on craigslist.

I was planning on doing this to allow me to run many different wheels. The 86 uses WRX hubs, and IIRC, you should be able to press on the STI hubs and bearings. That would also give us larger wheel bearings. But it takes work, and requires new wheels (obviously) and rotors.
Sign up for a FedEx account. Pack each wheel individually and be sure to protect the faces. The FedEx account will give you discounted rates. It would probably be around $150-200 to ship from CA to OH, which, if he wants them bad enough, he should have no problem paying.
VIR?

Yep, read that before. I'm paying close attention to that thread. In the past, people have put down ~7whp with a drop in and smooth intake tube, which is different from what they made - but I trust Grimmspeed.

I do trust them. They seem very transparent in everything. Anyway, think I'll just put in the drop in filter. It still seems like not going over 14 on the chart.

I don't know if I can have it ready by then. I need to get the studs I cut on the rear wheels replaced cause I wouldn't trust running a bolt on spacer on the track. I also need it to get them replaced so once the spacer is gone I can remove the crazy amount of negative camber in the rear so the car will handle right. Then just need to pickup a set of new brake pads and I think I should be ready. Need to figure out how to secure the single pedestal amp mount better cause I am sure it will be facing more force than it normally will. Removing it might be the only solution but that would make the drive to the track suck.
I wish it was that cheap around here. I am pretty sure track days at VIR and CMP the two closest tracks are like $250 a day.

Then again, $300 to run true hot laps around VIR ... I'd pay that to do it once, at least.

A guy in my neighborhood just bought a Scion ... And proceeded to get stuck as soon as he tried to drive up the hill today, after it snowed last night.
Do these cars come with A/S or summers?

I think the reason why they put shitty tires on our cars is for us to burn them as soon as possible racing on the track or drifting on the road like a crazy maniac.
The 86 chassis does NOT deserve these shitty ass tires seriously. It's amazing how it still puts out 0.92 G in skidpad with these stock tires.

Awesome car, and I look forward to whatever you do. Morgan is a good pioneer for the car, I'd just do whatever NEXT mods he's going to do since he's already got a good feel for what mods aren't worth it or are dangerous for the motor...but I'll STFU about that.

Thanks. Will look into it right now.
Fedex gave me $120 quote.
Thanks man.
I'll going to the dealer for my first service visit in a month or two probably. Will see how the service manager feel about modding the car first.
Anyway, these are some of the stuff that I'm planning to do:
Wheels & Tires
Front Swaybar
Coilovers
all those little suspension and tranmission mounts and shit to tighten up the car
Tom's Tailight
Plan A:
UEL Header
Overpipe
Frontpipe
CBE
Tune
Lightweight crank pulley
Plan B:
Supercharger
If I decide to go with Plan B, that will be AFTER my warranty runs out.
If I go with Plan A, I will be start doing it this year.
But more than anything, I want to play with the suspension bits first.
After tracking my car for the first time, it feels like "engine mods" can wait til my driver mod gets better.

IT'S SO FUN TO DRIVE.
That's for sure.
The car really doesn't need anything. It's crazy fun to drive in its stock form even with shitty Prius tires. It's a blast to drive on street/canyon/track.
I never felt like this in my MS3 even though it was freaking faster after all the goodies added and pro-tune.
RWD really is.. addicting.
I don't think I will ever go back to FWD. It'll be either RWD or AWD.
