Guess Instagram posts don't work on AZine.

Anyway, I'm ready for tomorrow's track day. Will be leaving at 5AM. About 10 people are doing a caravan through Angeles Forest Hwy to the track together in the morning.

Too tired to write. But had so much fun at the track with my friends yesterday. Had 10 cars with me.

Some pics and background story first..

So I did that yesterday. It was definitely the most scary moment in my track life. Haha and I've spun off the track many times before.

Took the bowl very well, noticed I was about 5-8 mph faster than my usual cornering speed through that first right hander. The next left hander was always super scary for me. But I felt really good in that lap so thought I can make it going in a little harder.

Not too sure what my speed was entering but it was probably around 70-75. The back started to slide. I panicked and overcorrected. Car started to slide the other way. Corrected again and knew I won't make it through the turn. At this point, I'm just trying my best to go off the track straight...

I went off, hit a huge ditch and jumped up onto the next turn somehow and drove out to the pit like nothing has happened. I don't even think any workers at the track noticed me going off.

I got out of the car and noticed my fake front lip is gone, and that was it. Probably need to get the alignment done. Haha

Fun times. Well I did match my personal best laptime and had so much fun driving back through AFH, so the car seems to be fine other than looking like a stock car from the front. Haha

This is my best session in the morning.

It's funny because I got my best laptime in that lap where I braked to let that monster S2K pass me in the straight... could have gotten a better time!!! argggghhh

And this is the fail video. LOL

Trust me, this could have been really bad if I went to the right more or shoot across the left side.

Thank god it was just my fake front lip. It ripped off from the bottom side of the bumper clean. I'm going to pick up another one for like $70 and replace it. haha

I'm going to get a new set of tires, brake pads, front OEM rotors, ARP longer studs, and new lugnuts.

That wasn't a bad fail... I was expecting you to jump offroad dukes of hazard style and go careening through the desert until pulling a Rosie Ruiz and entering the pit like nothing happened

That looks like so much fun! I would have loved to track my Golf R like that, but the idea of breaking stuff on my only car scares me. Once finances allow, I'll have a second car as a toy that I can race and won't mind having it sit for awhile when parts need replaced.

Thanks!

Yeah, it's really a lot of fun. No spirited driving on the street even in the canyon can match the "fun" driving at the track.

This track is not very optimized for pushing to the very limit since the runoff is pretty crappy with rocks and dips, but a lot of other tracks in Socal have a smooth runoff, so you don't really have to worry about going off or spinning off the track!

Just realized I'm using Motul fluid for everything now.

Motul 8100 5W30 for the engine.
Motul RBF600 for the brakes.
Motul 300 for the trans and diff.

Anyone using Motul fluid?

but you gotta order them?
are they really so good?
I rarely have to swap fluids anymore now that I barely drive TWO cars (sounds so fuckin snobby)...
maybe I'll splurge on the good stuff next time.

It's definitely an overkill for cars that don't see any track action. Their stuff is certainly better for that extreme high temp you get at the track.

Not sure on other area, but there are a lot of shops that carry them. I personally get it from my friend who work at a tuning shop. I order them through him. The engine oil is about $50 for 6qt, the trans/diff oil is about $65 for 4 bottles, and the brake fluid is about $30 for 3 bottles.

Not too bad.

This was at C&C yesterday, probably the nicest 'modified' Twin that showed up.
There was a stock blue BRZ with the same side skirts as yours next to the ND. Probably the nicest stock one.
