2004 TL Dealer Launch Party

I received this e-mail from acura.com a few days ago:

______________
Subject: You're Invited: The 2004 TL Dealer Launch Party

...TL Dealer Launch Party. On October 22...

______________

I didn't see it until yesterday and didn't have enough time today to call the dealership. Does anybody know what happens at the Dealer Launch Party? Is it worth going to? Does it start at a certain time or is it all day? Is it during the day? Evening?

Canadian dealer is worth going for sure. Got so much free food and free drinks. Yet, the first bunch ppl to touch and look at '04 TL. Priceless IMO.

Ours went well. Lots of food and some violin players.

Steven's Creek did. Fairly crappy quality to be honest.

They also gave me a Desert Mist / Parchment 5AT w/nav, but I had to cut a $38,700 check in exchange...

ours was ok, just a platter of sandwhiches, cheese, crackers, and a bowl of punch. they had little bags of freebies(flashlight?) but i wasn't standing around for 3 hrs just to get one...noticed the TLs don't have chromed window lining and door handles but the interior was hella nice...the carbon fiber trim was sweet

I went to Thomas Acura in Covina, CA which was fully catered with open bar but no test drives because they claimed their insurance wouldn't cover them since they were serving alcohol.

There was a table with crackers, cheese, chips, salami, ham, other cold cuts, etc. A table with sushi, crab cakes made fresh, and sashumi. Another table with roast beef sandwiches. And a dessert table. Also, there were people walking around with trays of shrimp cocktail, scallops wrapped in bacon, asparagus spears wrapped in cheese and pastry, beef wellington bites, and some type of pastry triangle with spinish inside.

Sound similar to other dealers?

Similar without the waiters. I was given a bottle of wine, a flashlight, and a holographic 5x7 picture of a silver TL.

Daaaaaamn! If I knew it would be like that I would have made the trek to my dealer. Buit I don't think it was like that. My guy is more like a up and coming dealer, so there was no booze, no catering, and maybe simple sandwiches or something. I ain't driving out the burbs for that shit. It sounds like a lame-ass party somebody's parents would throw for their kid's birthday on a Sunday afternoon. But your party, with the open bar, that sounds NICE! Maybe for the RL...

No gifts though at Thomas Acura...

BTW, do you guys know if the party is at the dealer's expense or corporate paid? Since the advertisement from Acura said only at participating dealers, I am thinking it is either dealer's expense or a co-op.

Do you have any pics of the desert mist with back up sensors?

They didn't have the parts in stock, so will install on Wednesday. With the delay I managed to leverage another price reduction.

I'll upload pics when that part is done.
