That is just the way it is. No one would buy a 300hp V-6 E 500 or GS 430. A V-8 is needed to project a CERTAIN IMAGE of a car or brand. V-8s are rare company, luxury=rarer things.

I think the new RL is of course better than the current one, the interior looks awesome but the exterior is zzzzzzzzzzzzzz. Especially compared with the new M45 and GS.

I guess you are right--no one would buy any of those cars with a V6, but not because it's a V6--it's because none of those manufacturers offer a decent V6 that can give you V8 performance!

Essentially, you are forced to get a V8 because there isn't a good alternative engine for those cars. Plus, don't forget that often the bigger engine comes with upgraded ammenities that also attract the purchaser to get the larger engine whether they really want it or not.

That was my point. G interior & this interior are extremely similar. I like the Nissan interior, so this looks fine by me too.

I guess the smallish buttons & busy consoles are a way of the future...more European like...

Funny how the die-hard acura fans don't want to admit it though...

Hmm, not sure I agree with this. I have never heard that any other car manufacturer trying to emulate Lexus. Compete with them, yes, but copy them? I've heard numerous times that Lexus tries to be like Mercedes or BMW.

The GS influences other cars ? Didn't the 2nd GS copied the quad front lamp design from the last gen MB E class ?

IMHO, I don't see any of the Lexus designs really stand out.

at least Acura is trying to do something on its own with their narrower headlights than the rest of the crowd - look at Toyota, Infiniti, even Honda itself having those huge headlights

Compare the RL interior to the M45 interior, which is a much better comparison than a G35c. To me they are about on the same level.

yawn.....stop....accord interior, tsx interior is better than the interior of the pic above. Nobody is comparing the RL interior to the 30k interior.

i think its dope as shit. the only resemblance to the Camry is the side window shape, but that shape is so standard. its not really a ripoff of a camry.

No one is biased, you need to know your facts before you start knocking me down bub.
LOL, read my post again their cheif.
VVTi is an evolution of VTEC, not a brand new thing that Lexus pioneered, so who are you trying to kid?? VTEC, VVTi, etc, etc, there are many names for the variations on a system which has been adapted, and is now found in several lines.

My post clearly said brought HIDs to the entry level, and as standard eqipment to boot, so they really paved the way for HID's in the mainstream. So what facts exactly do I have wrong??? Seems like your Lexus blinders are more powerful than I thought. Hey Lexus makes great cars, I think Acura does too, but give credit where credit is due.

Its no great secret that like others said Lexus is known for great, luxury, high quality cars, but as innovators?? Like someone else said many try to compete with Lexus, but I dont know about trying to copy Lexus. I wouldn't say the same about Lexus when it comes to Mercedes, BMW, etc. Thats not a bad thing mind you, but dont try and kid anyone but yourself with what you said. I think the 5 series influenced the GS more than vice versa.

I hope this car looks more like an ACURA in person...right now it looks like my mother's accord on roids with a pinch of sissy for good measure. Flagships are suppose to hit you where it counts from the start, not grow on you!

this is a big car, and in the pictures, there are no good points of reference for size. So when u see it next to you in a stop light, it will look like a beast. Much like the SSR, when i saw pictures, it looked like a roadster for former rednecks. But when i saw it at the dealership, it was a beast.

I doubt it... maybe about 25%-30% of the parts. But it'll be built here in the US.

Where did the Accord or TSX come into the equation? There was a comparison between the G35 and this interior which I said didn't make sense. That was all.

I drive an Accord. Yes, the interior is nice, but isn't "all that". I actually prefer the Z interior personally (except the Accord's plastics are of better quality)

If it was going to be built in the U.S then they would have announced it by now.

Like Zapata said, it will be 100% made in japan like the current RL is.

cus,
ya need to re-read the thread. Somebody said interiors and how there hints of that awful panisonic/nissan setup in the new RL. ShawnS then posted the pic of the g35. You then say compare cars that are priced similarly. So i said ok....Accord and TSX are about 30k give or take and the interior still looks better than what ShawnS posted. Again nobody is comparing g35 v. RL.

Agreed. The Accord & TSX have better interior than the G35.

boring

i see the camry resemblence

Big flagship sedans would benefit from v8's

Big flagship sedans with heavy AWD system MUST HAVE V8's

thats just the way it is

its gonna be slow , looks too conservatie, gonna look dated real quick with the competitions cars

i dont see why anyone would take this over a E-class or 5-series

i think acura is just being their boring self, did u actually expect to be blown away?

Those V8 Flagship cars are gonna cost in excess of 10-15k more. While also think they need a V8 option, I also realize how many more E320's and 530's I see on the road vs the E430/500 540/545.

What do you think of it with the standard Acura grill??
