Current RL
Length: 196.6 in
Width: 71.6 in.
Height: 54.5 in
Wheel Base: 114.6 in.

New RL
Dimensions
1. Length - 193.5 inches, 4915mm
2. Width - 72.6 inches, 1845 mm
3. Height - 57.1 inches, 1450 mm
4. Wheelbase - 110.2 inches, 2800 mm

You know, these pics might not be showing its true size. I thought this new RL looked smaller (thiner) than the current. But by these numbers the new RL is still a FULL size sedan.

Maybe the car will look better in person.

Whats the big deal with the V8 if the V6 can perform to V8 standards than who cares.
DITTO. This new RL will do very well. As it evolves, it will get even better. I'll give them a year or two to work out the bugs and put one in my driveway. Good job ACURA.

nova said Idrive! :cringe:

I don't see any paddles integrated onto the steering column.

Featured packed: YES.
Interior Styling: Very nice.
Exterior Styling: I prefer the TL over this

Body colored all around is a good sign.
Maybe this is a BORING ass color to show the RL off probably. At least it doesn't have those door handle, styling identations the TL has parallel to the wheel base.

It is overall nice especially the interior. Yeah that littlen knob above the huge one seems a bit out of place though. The exterior styling does seem a bit conservative compared to the TL but Acura does seem to explore a bit more. I feel there are bits of a new Mazda Millenia and Mazda 6 mixed in the front (I think its the grill or the general front area). Perhaps its not distinct enough. The rear trunk is a bit of a copy of the 7 series BMW. The trunk is raised slightly rather than running smooth across with the rear panels. Like someone state earlier the headlight design is a bit calm but at certain angles it does look nice. The headlight, fender, and hood have that design element of the S2000 and the new accord. I like that feature though. Interiori is off the hook. There's a bit of curving and sensuous design and and good looking metals. Thats about all from me.

Make a 2-Door with three pedals on the floor or some type of quality SMG system.
Keep it under 50-GRAND.

I hope the build is as soild as the past RL's. My fathers 03 RL is built like a tank. Much heavier feeling and better fit/finish than my CL.

I see some resembelence with the Camry... It's not bad looking, just still boring. I much prefer the TL's styling. Interior is great though.

Just not very excited about it at all. I like the M45 better solely for the fact that it comes with a V8

Yeah it does have a wee bit of resemblance to the Camry. Love the interior though, great job Acura.

As I have claimed? It's the truth. I'm not claiming. There is a big price difference 65k to 50k RL. Just because it's a flagship doesn't mean it's compariable. There are no absolute standards.....but you are evaluating it that way.

You honestly think somebody purchasing an 7 series or ls430 would consider an RL????

fully loaded the Q45 and the LS430 both cost around 65K. That's comparable (though still a bit lower than) to the price of the S430 and 745 (or is it 740? I forget.) I think the Q45 and LS430 do compete with one another as flagships and they all compete in the big boat luxury sedan category) I tihnk those 4 cars are still all in the same competition for customers with one another.

exterior : ok not bad
Interor: great
Engine : Ok

BUT imagine this.. u go out with bunch of friends.. who drives S430. GS430, M45, 545, and you have a 05 RL... they will be like... Nice V8, V8, V8, V8 and V6? for about the same price? if i was going to get a LUXURY Sedan i would want a V8... it is not the matter of i need it or not. It is just the informal rule of LUXURY FAMILY SEDAN.

i just wonder how long it will take before the complicated driveline starts failing because of the same bad designs and poor quality control as the 1st & 2nd gen CL/TL trannies?

The new RL will hit its target market, nice styling.....not a break through but looks very nice looking. Will have competitive pricing, AWD, good looking interior. Rumor is the car is going to have amazing handling.

funny how many are bitching about FWD...now its fully AWD and seems like a kick ass setup indeed but ya'll complain about the lack of HP.

What's next? 20" rims too small? I just hope stupid Acura decides to keep the specs as is and perhaps equip ALL THEIR MODEL cars with this SH-AWD at least as an OPTION!

Better late than never though!

es330?
i35?
e320?
are those not LUXURY FAMILY SEDANS?????? Yes they are.....there is not informal rule. Stop with the v8 nonsense.

:pee: v8

Moreover, you just named cars from complete different classess. Yea i'm driving a car that can likely outhandle every one of those cars YEAR ROUND, kickass sound system etc. etc., and i'm gonna be worried about not having a v8? NOt to offend you but this is why you drive a g35 SPORTS COUPE and not a lux sedan. It's a different mind set.

i was being a drama queen, what i was trying to say that almost anything looks better than the current RL. Might be because i look at it all day long since my dad owns one.

I think the new RL looks great!!!

the specs are equally impressive!!

20 inch wheels
300 HP (likely underrated)
AWD
Badass nav and killer interior
TRUE HIDS

V8 V8 V8... For you that cry about it not having a V8 acura/honda has never put a V8 into any production cars/trucks They never will either!!!!

They can get the power of a V8 from a V6 and the gas mileage of a 4 banger from the V6.

IMHO the best of both worlds...

The new RL actually has a lot of styling ques from the 2nd gen TL. Compare them in pictures side by side and you will see many of the same design features.

The LS430 can reach near $71,000

V8 this, V8 that. The S500 has a V8. 5-liter. Impressive torque, but still only 302 hp.

If this V6 makes 300 hp, what's the fucking harm?

You must work for Honda, as you and them don't understand YOU WON'T BE TAKEN SERIOUSLY unless u offer a V-8. Especially if you want to be a premier sport/luxury car.

That is just the way it is. No one would buy a 300hp V-6 E 500 or GS 430. A V-8 is needed to project a CERTAIN IMAGE of a car or brand. V-8s are rare company, luxury=rarer things.

I think the new RL is of course better than the current one, the interior looks awesome but the exterior is zzzzzzzzzzzzzz. Especially compared with the new M45 and GS.

yes, the new GS is so ugly you go into convulsions just looking at it. The RL is more boring simply because there is no drama like vomiting, dry heaves, et cetera just from looking at it.

I see hints of the recent BMW trunk designs in this pic. It's more understated, but I still see a similarity.

In addition, I think the exhaust pipes are too big for this type of car. They would look great on a sports car, but not Acura's flagship luxury sedan. A little smaller would be perfect

Dude, the next GS is not perfect at all but while the GS INFLUENCES other cars, the RL is INFLUENCED by others. One starts trends, one copies them.

I agree with you.....STICK RULES, but I have my doubts it will happen with that complex 4WD system.
My fingers are crossed though.

First the 4-Door..…..Then the Coupe…….Then the Limited edition 6-Speed Coupe. Does that plan sound familiar?
That would fit right into timeframe to buy something new in 2007/2008.
