We went on a road trip for the first time with the Mini Cooper S (a trip I won from a photo contest), I was a bit worried because there's a section of the trip that was all gravel for about 75 kilometres (approximately 46 miles) and my car's lowered 🙄, but it did just fine other than getting a chip on the windshield (which will be fixed by insurance).
This was taken on the 2nd to the last day of the trip, somewhere between Williams Lake and Whistler
There is only one good thing about winter if you are not into winter sports or snowmobiling. When you pull your toys out the following spring, they feel like new toys all over again.
Living in the Pacific Northwest, I'm now such a cliché 😂. Picking up my 2023 Subaru Outback Wilderness right now. The Mini Cooper S was fun for almost 6 years but due to my obsession of wildlife photography and just needing higher ground clearance, and more room, it had to go.
Subaru markets this as a "SUV", I prefer to call it what it is... A lifted wagon 😊
Picked up this 1991 Honda Legend Alpha a couple months ago thru auction in Tokyo and had it imported to me here in Texas. Couple small things to address, but it feels like driving a brand new car. It's one of the lowest distance travelled Legends at just ~52000km. Might list on BaT this summer.
I went looking for Northern Pygmy Owls today... didn't find any, but I got to put the Subaru Outback to the test with the fire trails... I know it ain't no Jeep Wrangler or Ford Bronco, but It checks off every box for me and fits the bill just fine without breaking the bank. Fuel efficiency could be better, but then again... it doesn't require premium gas (or mid-grade for that matter), so it somewhat makes up (vs the Mini Cooper S)

There are a lot of Subaru drivers where I live. Foresters, Crosstreks, and the occasional Outback. They perform well in the winter and are reasonably priced. A 2010 Forester was one of my best winter cars.
My dad nearly bought a 2019 Onyx, but with them having 2 houses & still trying to sell the 2nd, they didn't want to add on a car note. And my mom wasn't a fan of the Subaru green.
I learned how to drive manual in an early 90's Subaru Legacy wagon, so Soobie wagons have a special place in my heart. I think they're cool cars despite being slow as molasses lol.

The trim that I have has the 2.4L Turbo engine, same as the WRX, it isn't bad at all... For a lifted wagon (or Subaru would want it to be called an "SUV" ), with the same ground clearance as the MB G Wagon, and almost of the 4Runner TRD,at 3,900lbs... 0-60 under 6 seconds is fast enough for me 🤷

My bad! I did look them up afterward and saw they had two different engine options. How do you like the CVT? I hear despite the connotations of it being a CVT Subaru did a good job of programming it to act like a traditional automatic and it's actually pretty enjoyable.
All of the Outbacks I drove, non-turbo models, and the Impreza I had for a rental, took away a lot of the negative mentality I had against CVTs (thanks for Nissan).
They work really well, and have some simulated 'shifts' to emulate a traditional automatic.
