If I were in the market for a two seater, the Supra would certainly be at the top of the list. They're awesome in person and they're putting up impressive numbers with just a tune.

What? The engine, while built by BMW, was tuned by Toyota specifically for the Supra. Same with the transmission and the chassis. The interiors are completely different. I don't think there's any sheet metal shared between the two either.
Drive the Z4 and then drive the Supra. They may share a similar structure and powertrain, but they are two vastly different cars.

2021 Supra uses the EXACT same engine as found in Z4 and G20 M340i. so is the transmission. chassis is EXACTLY the same as Z4.
The interior is made by BMW for Supra. Obviously, they will drive differently, one is a coupe and the other is a convertible.

The engine of Bavarian origins has been tuned by Toyota’s engineers specifically for the Supra, as it’s the case with other BMW-sourced vital hardware, such as the eight-speed transmission and the chassis. Despite sharing more than a few parts, the two companies have promised distinct identities for their sports cars that will go well beyond the different body style.

It offers 0 specifics from an article in 2018.
2021 Supra which has the power upgrade uses 100% the same hardware and software as other 382hp B58.
as far as identities... yes they will be different.... One has a name of Supra and the other one has a name of Z4 that no one really gives a shit about.

Here is one more, last year I got my first turbocharged car, but neglected to post it.
Just finished up the dc light system. It came with a broken ac inverter system that was like 300 amps and used 6 batteries. Now it's 7 amps and uses one.
So, you get a downpipe then what again?

True, but I think that's just what happens whenever a chief engineer has an interview before a car comes out.

What I do not get and this applies to all cars from daily drivers to high-performance cars using a turbo engine, why so many gears when you have a square wave torque curve. Likely for the CARB requirements. Its why I rushed out to buy a 2017 RDX with a 6-seed automatic when I heard the next generation was going to be a 4-cylinder turbo (again) with a kazillion gears.

I can understand that. Why re-invent the wheel. But I also wonder considering Toyota has very deep pockets and has the money to develop their own. Mind you, I have driven older in-line 6s from BMW and they are tops, just could not afford one at the time. One YouTube video I came across also talked about in-line 6s coming back and how they were better than V6s.

And to get this thread back on track... here's a pic of the car with the new Seibon Carbon wing that just arrived and got installed. I freakin love this thing even more now ... and more carbon bits are to come ...

Looks good, JB. Was curious when the Supra first was officially revealed, how it would look with the MkIV 'shopping cart handle' wing.

Wheels certainly give the car presence but ... I'm a bit more conservative.
I'd love to see this thing rocking some HREs with a lip on it or something .. just saying.
Either way, looks great! Love the wing

Been a while since I had driven anything MT with the NSX being down for the moment. She needed her legs stretched so took her for a spin late last week.

Least mileage this car has seen since I bought it. Working remotely, and getting out on the Indian has kept the Merc parked.

Golden hour photo from last week sometime. NSX just got home from being twin-turboed. Happy to have it back after four months.

May I inquire about the newly twin-turboed NSX's current output? Has it been dynoed?

View from the office, luckily, silver hides how dirty she is.
