Different strokes for different folks. IMO it has the edge on tech

Never said it was better overall car, was talking about from a value perspecitve. I have test driven many cars BMW, Audi, caddy, etc so from what I have seen. If brute performance is the objective then the M56 is not a consideration as are few other cars other than the beasts suggested. I'll shut up and go back to my corner now...

...although it looks like the 2011 AMG CL63/65s are gonna be killer but will probably rock in at 6 digits.
At least Infiniti is finally increasing the HP. A 100+ HP increase in 1 year shows that they finally listened.

The new Alpina B5/B7 looks hot, too.

But remember that it took them something like 5-6 years to catch up with the rest of the competition. They had a 300-hp V8 in the M45 while the G37 had a 330-hp V6.
I like the B7, but isn't it something like $120k? I think it's the only Alpina coming.

True and the Vette as well is a true value for the dollar considering the level of performance you get for the price. The CTS and Escalade helped bring Caddy back form deaths door. They have some very attractive modles coming as well. Glad they are loosing that old man genre and appealing more to the younger crowd. I was going to look at a CTS, but the interior turned me off, I hate pop up nav displays.

But I was talking more in general than comparing the Infiniti and the Caddy.
That said, I'd go very lightly used S6 before getting a CTS-V I think. The S6 is simply a better car overall.

Though I like what BMW and Audi offer, they were simply not contenders in the final round. Expensive, poor maintenance/reliability, and very expensive to own (especially past warranty).
I took a few pics of the V as they starting to prep it for delivery at the dealer. It looks even more amazing in person. Forgive the quality of the pic (snapped on an Iphone 3G)....

Everyone is different and so are their preferences.
I hope you get 200k miles of trouble-free driving out of it!

Thanks! I appreciate all of the things you've contributed to the thread. You definitely made me think about options I wasn't initially considering....

congrats! Glad to hear everything got sorted out, and you've got one hell of a machine. IMO the sexiest car out there, on the outside, on the inside, under the hood and for the price.

The outside lighting may be causing whiteout...
We may only be seeing a fraction of the V....
But 556-Supercharged American Small-block V8 Power NEVER looked better.

Congrats!

Awesome choice! Glad you got the GM/dealership issues straightened out! Best of luck with it. Tells us about everything when you get it.

I'll get some pics up soon, when I can. It continues to rain like crazy here! (figures!).
I've driven it perhaps 100 miles or so in the last 2 days....
Initial Impressions (with the caveat that I am adhering to the breakin period recommendations)
The Good (briefly):
1. Power to spare. I can't imagine what it will be like to open it up (right now staying below 3-4k rpms). Including the M-cars, I haven't driven anything with 4 doors that even comes close to this (at a relatively comparable price point)!
2. Very responsive.
3. Very quiet ride over even the worse GA highways.
4. Handles great even over rough roads. Shifting it into sport mode makes the suspension notably stiffer but can give you more control/quicker adaptation to the greater handling demands.
5. The tech is surprisingly good -- includes everything except a few high-priced options found on the most expensive BMWs/MB option packages. The inside is very nice -- and I'm glad I went with the wood trim option. One particular part I really like is the steering wheel -- it is very well designed. The pop-up nav screen is very cool -- and you have access to most information without it being up.
6. The Recaros are a MUST have. The best auto seat I have ever been in by far. The amount of adjustability is amazing.
Things that I will have to get used to (small nitpicks):
1. Visibility - the C-pillars are huge! The rear window is rather small. = a rather decent-sized blind spot. The rearview mirror, therefore, is pretty limited. The sideview mirrors are well designed to alleviate this issue.
I can see the coupe being much worse given the sloping design of the roof/trunk!
2. Gas Mileage - I know it will get better as the car breaks in...but my 2008 TL-S could easily get 30+ MPG if I didn't floor it (often got 28 MPG some city/mostly highway driving). I knew I wouldn't get this but it still is a bit of an eye opener. I also wish the gas tank was a bit bigger. I will definitely have to re-fuel more often.
3. Keyless everything - while cool, I can already see it might get a little old. There is a slight hesitation in the opening of the doors once you grab the handle and pull. You have to pull a little slower than normal vs. just grabbing and yanking the door open. I can learn to live with it! Very cool, though.
4. The moonroof - it doesn't have a solid cover -- more like a fabric sunshade so it doesn't completely block out bright ambient light (ie: the sun) if you want. I'm a little surprised by this design decision. Some dark tint on the moonroof will probably all but fix the problem.
5. The Nav - nothing really competes with Acuras Nav setup. Even my now 3 year old TL-S had a better user interface/setup than GM's (better than Ford's Sync, BMW, MB, etc.). Acura really did a great job and it shows.
6. The Center stack has a LOT of buttons.![Smile](https://acurazine.com/forums/images/smilies/smile.gif)
Just a few thoughts after the first day or so...more to come.
I likely won't get pics taken/posted til this weekend given the weather and work schedule.
