$70k for a Car....Which Would You Pick?

Looks like I may be getting a 2011 CTS-V for an amazing price.
GM opened an investigation into this series of events as I filed a customer complaint and escalated it up pretty far to the people that can actually do something.
I would just have to wait a few weeks or so....if I want to stick with GM/Cadillac.
I just played around with a colleague's iDrive on his 2011 5 series....definitely not intuitive by any means.

If it looks promising for a 2011 V you should be patient...I seriously don't know of a car that offers more for the money. 556HP/551 Tq =

Sorry to hear, hopefully things get sorted out and you get out with an amazing deal to make up for all the BS that you went through. neuronbob's V has been a little lonely here on AZ

Why not keep the TL-S and buy a weekend warrior? CTS-V coupe?

Lately I've been starting to doubt the old theory of 'Buy Japanese'. European makers I think have significantly narrowed the gap in reliability/dependability. I've been very happy with my TSX, but even with an 06 at 83K, there have been things that have failed that really kind of surprised me. At 30 or 40K, I had to have the whole rack and pinion replaced. Thankfully it was still under warranty. That, coupled with some other things that I just honestly wouldn't have expected from a "Japanese" car make me question whether they're as solid as they used to be.

Faster on the track and in theroy, but in everyday drviing, even if you drive beating on it will it be really that much slower? And the CTS-V is not very reliable either, the M5 is a sweet ride! At least with all that speed you can get back to dealer for service quicker ;-)

Where are you getting that the CTS-V is not very reliable? Are you pulling that one out of your butt because its a Cadillac?

They are not in the same league in my book.

The CTS-V is in a different league when it comes to performance in comparison to the M. It's one of the fastest production cars in the world with 4 doors.... on the track, in theory, AND in everyday driving.
It is what it is....a beast.
I've read nothing but good reports regarding reliability too.

I have a soft spot for the new Mercedes-Benz E-Class. Maybe an AMG...?

Not the same performance-wise, but I also have a soft spot for the Volvo S80.

Good deals are going on slightly used Audi S6 V10.
But frankly, go for a lightly optioned 550i if speed *AND* luxury is what you want (the M3 is a bit shrot on luxury). Fuel economy on the CTS-V is *terrible* 12/18 while the 550i has a reasonable-for-400HP 17/25.
Like all recent Infinitis, the new M is a perfect car for Goldorak wannabes. Reminds me science fiction of the '80s. They are certainly not as hot as latest Euro crowd.

problems with theirs, either.

Yeah, sorry, no. I recently got the pleasure of getting a walkthrough of the new XJ at the dealer, & I highly doubt Infiniti has crammed anywhere near the amount of tech. goodies in that car.

I think some magazine out there did a comparo of a bunch of performance cars around a road course and some of the editors actually like the CTS-V more than the ZR1 ![Shrug](https://acurazine.com/forums/images/smilies/shrug.gif)
in the same vein that the M56S with Tech Package "has more technology than all the others" the CTS-V is more of a beast than all the others. The biggest issue with the previous gen CTS-V was the dreaded axle tramp. Surely if there was an issue, it would have reared it's head already with 500rwhp on tap in stock form.

The higher-HP engine versions of the XF are a better match (albeit on the "lux" rather than "sports" side) to the 5-series, A6, CTS-V, etc. than the XJ would be.
Nice, but supposedly finicky, tech on the XF too.

The XF is a $55k-70K car, the XJ goes from $72K to north of $110K.

I love the Jag, but the Infiniti technology works, research Jag reliability and the biggest complaints you will see are with their tech, buggy and twitchy at best. Again I don't doubt on paper there are better cars, there always is. My suggestion was based on overall value where you can get a very reliable good performing sport luxury sedan crammed with tech for a decent budget.

I agree. My dealer said it is because it is a locate - "technically" it isn't mine until the transport/driver guy signs for it and loads it up.
I'm furious because I put the money down on a specific VIN and along with that the financing/etc.
I don't see how the other dealer could legally sell it right from under me when I had already signed for it!

They took you out of the market and had you take mental ownership by contracting you, the only problem is they had no right or authority to contract you on that car or VIN as they did not own it. I'm guessing you signed a bunch of papers but I can gaurantee that you didn't sign the certificate of origin, if you had, you would own the car. The person who is in possession of the CO or title is the owner of the vehicle and is the one who is authorized to sell it, that was not your dealership.

If true, doesn't the contract become kaput? In which case get your money back and shop elsewhere.

It's your dealer that screwed you not the other one. Your dealer sold you and contracted you on a car that they did not own, simple as that. This is the same as if I try to sell you my neighbors car. Legally your dealer had no right to sell the car. The other dealer did nothing illegal, however it is highly likely that your dealer did in the process of contracting you to purchase an item that they were not actually authorized to sell.
..and my dealer paid a driver with a covered trailer carrying the 2 cars down the other dealer after Dealer B sold the car without notifying my dealer.
Signed papers.
Car exchange.
Driver with trailer.
Yeah, my dealer so screwed me.
