$35,000 lease, what would you choose?
My buddy is looking to lease a car around the $35,000 range, $2500 give or take. Buying is not an option ..
Musts:
- Sporty
- RWD
- Automatic
Open to:
- Coupe or Sedan
- V6 or V8
What would you guys recommend? I guess this is a last hurrah before he finally throws in the towel and has to buy a minivan .
Suggestions would be great!
Thanks in advance.

I'm with Crazy. Those two stand out. Maybe a G25 if he wants to save a few bucks.

"35,000 lease"?? never heard someone describe a lease budget by the mrsp of the car. what his budget per month? how much is the total budget for his residual?
$35,000 cars could have a monthly lease pmts that deviate up to 50%.
anyway, my best advice would be for a g25, is250, or tsx. they should lease out below 400/mo with the down payment rolled in. germans (328, a4, c-class) will be 4xx-5xx/mo with $3k down - so figure close to 600/mo with the down pmt rolled in. so like i said, thats 600/mo to 400/mo (50% deviation) for cars with similar MSRPs.

The lease price depends on a LOT of factors. A big one is how much is being paid up front towards the sale price of the car being leased, as "cap reduction?" The higher the capital cost reduction, the lower the monthly payments and residual, but it means more money up front.
The "sales price" of a lease car is negotiable and is a factor to be negotiated to bring down the lease price-- i.e. don't accept the MSRP as the base price of the car on a lease.
The money factor, i.e. the interest rate, is also negotiable, so your buddy should check the interwebz for the MF range once he has a car or two in mind.

Looks like he's getting a 2012 Mustang V6 6MT . So much for autotragic!
His reasoning "Well .. it's about $2000 cheaper than the auto .. might as well"
I'll make sure to post my impressions and take pictures after driving it.

I haven't driven it yet, but damn the car looks great in person.
I purposely parked about 8 inches from his passenger door .. he always used to do it to mine when I parked in the back of the lot .
Enjoy the pics, I will snap some of the interior when we're taking it for a spin.

No way, Acura is best.
Acura transmissions are bulletproof, their brakes are the best in the business - immune to warping and premature wear Acuras are so well put together that they never rattle even after 200,000 miles or even while new, the paint is of superb quality... it's never mismatched and the clearcoat is so tough that it would last centuries. Never mind the superior interiors, the materials blow away the competition in terms of quality. You would never see interior panels mismatched with the airbag or cracking over time. Did I also mention that the seats basically never crack, even on a garaged car?
Acura = #1

I got to drive it today and thought I'd share my thoughts.
Steering: The steering didn't feel as responsive as I thought it would, I'm sure I could get used to it if I drove it for a couple of days.
Power: Power is definitely there. I didn't get to go past 4500RPM (Car has about 70 miles on it), but I could tell the midrange is great .. I can only predict the top end power is good too.
Engine has a lot of torque for a V6, makes starting in 1st very easy.
Another thing I noticed is rolling in 1st @ 2-3mph doesn't make your engine feel like it's choking. I'm sure the weight / torque helps a lot.
Clutch: Clutch engagement is very high compared to my Accord. Took some time to get used to, but I'm sure driving it quickly / aggressively would not be hard at all.
Transmission: Transmission has very close gears, I could literally shift this car with only my wrist.
Shifting was buttery smooth, felt great.
Ride quality: I might be a little biased since the suspension on my Accord is coupled with H&R Race springs (extremely stiff in a car that weighs about 250lb lighter), but the suspension felt very plush and floaty to me. Going into corners coupled with the semi-numb steering made me feel a little uneasy, to each his own.
I'm sure with some time I would get used to it .. but I would get the car's suspension upgraded ASAP.
Build quality: Build quality of the dash, material on the seats, stitching felt great.
Overall for a DD? Extremely comfortable .. I loved the seats too!
